2016 Rio Olympics
MHYC to Open for Final Sailing Medal Races of Rio Olympics
With the postponement , due to lack of wind, of the 470 medal races in Rio with Australians, Mat Belcher & Will Ryan in the Men's, this morning, the race has now been rescheduled to tomorrow morning. The 49er's medal race with Nathan Outteridge & Iain Jensen will also be raced tomorrow morning.
Middle Harbour Yacht Club is keen to open for the first race from 1.30am in the morning to show the 470 and 49er races live on the big screen but need your support to do so!
Please advise by return email or call the MHYC office on 02 9969 1244 if you are interested in coming down to the Club in the early hours of Friday 19th August, 2016, to cheer on the boys! We need to know numbers to provide catering & staff and we will have the bar open, light snacks available, tea/coffee.
Welcome Home to Our Olympic Sailors
The Australian Sailing Team call MHYC their home base with the National Training Centre based here and you will have seen many of the team training from the Club getting ready for their Olympic campaign.
Next Wednesday, 24th August, 2016, the Australian sailors return from Rio and there will be an informal welcome home celebration on the rigging deck at MHYC, from 12noon to approx. 1.30pm.
If you would like to join us to congratulate each sailor on their achievements including our medal winners and eight first- time Olympians, please advise the MHYC office by return email or on 02 9969 1244.
Please note that car parking will be congested on this day with the Welcome Home as well as MHYC's normal Wednesday sailing, so please plan around this.
