New MHYC Short Offshore Summer Series for Multihulls
The march of the multihulls into mainstream racing is gathering pace with more summer events than ever before set to cater for the NSW fleet.
Last month’s Audi Hamilton Island Race Week enjoyed bumper numbers thanks to a rise in multihull entries and Commodore of the Multihull Yacht Club Queensland, Bruce Weiland, says these days most clubs in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay offer a racing multihull division.
Middle Harbour Yacht Club at The Spit in Sydney announced the MHYC Multihull Short Offshore Series for the 2014-15 sailing season and invited owners with Category 4 safety certificates to be part of the inaugural eight-race pointscore.

MHYC Sailing Handbook
A reduced in-house version of the Sailing Handbook is now available for the new 2014/15 season. The principal information has remained the same and most Skippers may have a ‘copy’ emailed to them, if requested. Please note, that a few amendments may be required and for various other Series (Premier / SOPS / Sprints / Multihulls) supplementary Sailing Instructions will be published as separate documents.

Annual Skipper's Briefing: 2nd Edition
Wednesday 8th October, 2014 (6:30pm for 7:00pm)
Did you miss the Annual Skipper’s Briefing at the end of August? Or are you primarily a Twilight Racing participant and currently getting the boat geared up for the first race? Please be reminded that, it is mandatory for each boat to have the ‘Owner’ or the designated ‘Person in Charge’ to attend a Skipper’s briefing each Season. As part of the NSW Roads and Maritime Services issued Aquatic Licence, MHYC will be holding a 2nd Skipper's briefing on Wednesday 8th October. Please make sure your boat is represented.
Race Management Volunteers Required for 2014/15 Season
Our new Sailing Season has begun. We would welcome new volunteers for the start boat “Hugh George” for the season. Volunteers on the Club's start boat enjoy learning race management skills and being part of a team with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Newcomers will always be placed with experienced race officers. A light lunch and refreshments are provided, and on “Hugh George” you will be comfortable and largely protected from the elements.
So if you are no longer sailing regularly and can spare the odd Saturday, or have a spouse, friend or partner for example who would like to be out on the water while you are racing, please advise the Sailing Office and a roster will be prepared, or let us know if you would like further information.
