Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.  What a beautiful day we had for our Annual Opening Day and Sail Past last Saturday.  Thank you to everyone who participated - the boats and crew looked fantastic! Congratulations to Ballymagirl (Noel & Jean Parker) for Best Dressed Boat, Stealth (Harry Brigden) for Best Dressed Crew, Crew Membership Prize winner, Will Gramolt, and the Hamilton Island Prize draw winner, Peter Kende.

MHYC's 2013-14 Sailing Handbook is now available for collection or to download - click here. One copy per Member of the Sailing Handbook is available from the Sailing Office. Extra copies are available to purchase for $10.

MHYC Membership Update

MHYC introduced a special membership rate for University students during the recent amendments to categories and fees. Consistent with the Club’s Membership Strategy, MHYC is pleased to advise that this offer is extended to include TAFE students and Apprentices. To take advantage of this offer simply contact Pip Lodder on 9969 1244 and provide a copy of your University/TAFE student card or, for Apprentices, a letter from your employer confirming your status. We look forward to welcoming you as members of MHYC.

Mosman Council Car Parking Stickers for 2013/14  - Available  Online!

Get your car parking permit for the Spit Foreshore areas for the 2013/2014 period, now through to 30th June 2014. MHYC Members can now receive a 50% discounted fee of $140 per sticker.

Adopt A Plank - Final Stage - It's nearly finished!!

Help the Club complete the balcony - only 100 planks left to sell.  Adopt a plank for a cost of $100.  Your plank will then have your desired name inscribed on the plank.  This is every Member's opportunity to not only help the Club, but also to be part of the Club's ongoing legacy.  Adopting a plank is easy.  Simply complete the form and hand it into  reception - click here to download form.

Notice to Boat Owners - Flare Practice - 16th Sept

The Cruising Division’s flare practices are always popular and the next one is on 16 Sept 2013 at 6.30pm. All are welcome.  Practice skills we hope you never need (then again – better to know how rather than fumbling around in the dark in time of real need).
Bring your own flares (no parachute rockets, please) and let them off on the beach in front of the club house.

Fire Extinguisher Servicing - Last Chance!

MHYC has organised Graeme Sedgeman of Sedgman Fire to be at the Club to service Member's fire extinguishers. The final date is Saturday 21st September 8am - 2pm.

Please note: We do not require any more flares for the flare practice - thank you.

Wednesday Series 1

Series 1 for the 2013-14 season Race 2 today, Wednesday 11th September, 2013. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is now from 1300 hours. Raffle tickets will be selling post race for the fantastic Meat Tray.

Commodore's Front Up Cup Results

With 15 boats racing in last Saturday's Commodore's Front Up Cup, in beautiful conditions, it was anyone's race.  Congratulations to all competitiors. Winners were as follows:-

Annual Skippers Briefing - Did you miss the first one? 2nd Edition - Thursday 26th Sept - 6.30pm

The 2nd Skipper's Briefing will be held on Thursday 26th September, 2013, at 6.30pm.

Racing Rules Clinic - 26th Sept - 7.30pm

Following the Skipper's Briefing, a Racing Rules clinic with guest speaker, Tony Mooney, will be held from 7.30pm.  A great opportunity to freshen up on the rules ready for the sailing season.  Too book, call 9969 1244.  $10 Members/$20 Non Members.

Summer is upon us! The Wild Oats Thursday Twilight Series begin with the first race on Thursday 10th October, 2013. There will be 23 pointscore races in the Series with the final race being on 27th March 2014.  More details to follow soon.
