Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.  

The Sydney Harbour Regatta was a huge success on the weekend - the weather was beautiful, the wind blowing and fantastic music back at the Club after racing!  Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, and assisted in making the Regatta a fun weekend.  Congratulations also to all placegetters and winners.  Photos will be available on the SHR website shortly.

Notice to Members - Functions Update for March

Members are advised that over the next week there will be a number of events that will alter the usual Member services.

Property Industry Foundation Regatta
Friday 15th March 2013
Due to the size of this event there will be no Member services available after 4pm.

Redlands Barefoot Ball
Saturday 16 March 2013
There will be no Member services available after 6pm.

We appreciate your understanding and co-operation during this busy time of the year.

Summer Pointscore Series

The Summer Pointscore Series will continue from Saturday 16th March, 2013, with Race 6 for the Open Division and  Inshore divisions.

Please note: MHYC t-heads are to be left vacant after this week's Twilight race due to the PIF Regatta the next day.  All boats must be vacated by 9am Friday 15th March, 2013.  Any queries can be directed to Alister Copley at alister@mhyc.com.au.

Beach BBQ & Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for Twilights

The delicious menu offerings for the Twilight Series will again consist of either casual meals from the BBQ ranging in price from $7 to $12, from nachos, vegetable nachos, or Beef burger, to a Twilight bistro menu in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro.  Bookings are essential for the Bistro. Please call 9969 1244 to book a table.

Wednesday Series 3

Series 3 for the 2012-13 season has begun. Race 2 today, Wednesday 13th March, 2013.  Entries are open for Series 3 online - click here. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is from 1330 hours.  Back by popular demand - Raffle tickets will be selling post race for a Meat Tray.

Enrolments for the Holiday Camps are now available Online

The school holiday camp enrolments are now available online for 2 weeks in April 2013.

Sailing Clinic - An Evening with Bruce Arms - Wednesday 27 March 2013, 7.30pm

Single handed around Australia World Record holder, Bruce Arms, will talk and show footage on his world record and also his win in the 2012 Three Peaks Race in Tasmania plus the Solo Tasman yact race which Bruce has won the last two times.Bruce was laos Jessica Watson's Project/Voyage manager for her amazing voyage around the world.  Come along to hear Bruce's stories.

2013 Annual Presentation Cocktail Party - Saturday 27th April 2013

The 2013 Annual Presentation Cocktail Party will be held at MHYC on Saturday 27th April, 2013, from 6.00pm. Awards will be presented for all Club divisions in the Annual & Twilight series for the 2012/13 sailing season. An arrival drink and canapés will be served. Live entertainment with DJ will follow the presentation.  Keep the date for your diary.  Online bookings to come.

Volunteers Needed for the Centenary of Canberra 2013 Asia-Pacific Access Class Championships 

During the recent World Access Dinghy Regatta at Middle Harbour Yacht Club, many people from Canberra volunteered to make our event so successful.
We now have the opportunity to assist them. Over the Easter weekend Canberra Yacht Club will be hosting the Centenary of Canberra 2013 Asia-Pacific Access Class Championships from 29 March - 1 April 2013.
If you are interested in assisting these sailors with disabilities and enjoying the rewards we all got from our own event, please contact Glynne Attersall on 0417 028 931 or email glynne01@optusnet.com.au and join the group already committed to going down (up?) to help.

Australia's sailors have begun their Rio 2016 Olympic Games campaign with the naming of the 2013 Australian Sailing Team and Australian Sailing Squad.
