Notice to Members - Family Day Function - Limited Club Access

This weekend, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November, the Club is hosting a charity corporate family function. The charity will be utilising the Sandbar, Beach and Harbourview Rooms on Saturday morning excluding use by our Members. For Members and their guests, pre-sailing refreshments will be available on the Cala Luna Deck from 8am until 11.30am with a free tea and coffee station and a range of free pastries and fruit available. Post-race sailing facilities will not be affected and will operate as usual in the Sandbar and Harbourview Room. On Sunday, the Sandbar will be utilised by the charity but the main bar area will be open offering a Tea and Coffee station and a range of pastries, and fruit for Members and their guests. Gourmet bread rolls will be available for purchase on both Saturday and Sunday for lunches. For all enquiries please contact Scott on 9969 1244. We appreciate your understanding and support for this one-off event.

Windcraft Announced as Tuesday Twilight Sponsor

We are delighted to advise that Windcraft Sydney Harbour has agreed to sponsor the weekly prizes for the up and coming Social Tuesday Twilight race series – the 1st race of the 14 race series being held this coming Tuesday ( November 13th – Lucky day !! )

Special Sailing Clinic with Malcolm Page

As part of the Club's Sailing Clinics, dual Olympic gold medallist, MHYC Member and now, Male Sailor of the Year, Malcolm Page, will be our guest speaker on Wednesday 14th November, 2012, at 7.30pm. Malcolm will be recapping his campaign and success from the recent London Olympics.

An experience not to be missed for all ages.

Adopt A Plank - Forms Now Available

Plans are on the way to update the verandas outside the harbour View Room and Cala Luna. As you are aware this is well and truly overdue. We have not been able to do this previously as we simply have not had the funds. Now with the help of Cala Luna we can get started.

Beach BBQ & Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for Twilights

The delicious menu offerings for the Twilight Series will again consist of either casual meals from the BBQ ranging in price from $7 to $12, from Thai Chicken curry, Vietnamese Vegetarian salad or Beef burger with the lot, to a Twilight bistro menu in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro.  Bookings are essential for the Bistro. Please call 9969 1244 to book a table.

Special Twilight Membership for New Members

MHYC will be offering a special Twilight Membership for new members wishing to join the Club for the Twilight season.  The cost will be $274.00 (inc YA fee) and expires 31st August 2013.  Conditions apply. Get your crew ready for the season.

Melbourne Cup Lunch - a rip roaring success!

With its return to our main Club room, the Harbourview, the Melbourne Cup festivities at MHYC were back in full swing for yesterday’s race – with our Club Captain, Julie Hodder, as the gracious and entertaining MC for the day and the ever exuberant Chris Haskard doing his usual wonderful job as our very colourful (and optimistic!) auctioneer selling all the horses in the Calcutta.

Sailing Clinic - Racing Tactics & Strategy

Wednesday 21st November, 2012, at 7.30pm

Quantum’s Carl Crafoord & Brent Fowler will present an evening seminar on Racing Tactics & Strategy, to help you kick off your summer season of sailing.
Carl has a wealth of experience including 26 Sydney to Hobarts (winning 4 as navigator), 9 Admirals Cups, 9 Kenwood Cups, as well as logging over 150,000 offshore miles. Brent has been a key member of many teams wining both Australian and Asian IRC Regattas. He turned heads when at 23 years old he helmed the first Australian Team at the Med Cup in the Soto 40 Series, with the average age onboard at 24.

As part of the Club’s new strategic plan, we have reached a preliminary agreement with well know Mosman trainers, Tani Ruckle and Michael Lynch, to offer a range of fitness and wellness programs to Club Members to be run from the Club premises.

Offshore Sail & (Basic) Navigation Exercises - 10th November, 2012

For those not racing that day, why not sail in company with a few other Club yachts to an offshore waypoint to revise your basic navigation skills? Whilst enjoying this fun sail over the horizon, refresh those manual navigation skills, which are so useful for getting the most out of your GPS/Plotter. Review your course made good with the other yachts during a late afternoon raft-up.
