Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.   We hope everyone had an enjoyable Anzac Day yesterday.  The Two Up Cup was on with 20 boats competing and the winner being Zen for Division 1 and  Contentious for Division 2. The Club was alive with Two Up after the race, raising $550 for the Frank Likely Trust and plenty of people enjoying the kids activities and bistro.

Tomorrow night is the Club's Annual Presentation and Dinner beginning at 7pm. Congratulations to all who competed in this year's racing season and we look forward to the 2012/13 season!

Open Letter from the Chairman to Members and Staff

The Club has always depended on the labour and skills provided by a large number of Members on a voluntary basis. Over recent months an extraordinary number of community minded Members have volunteered to assist the Club with administrative, maintenance and event organisational tasks. Much of this effort was focused on the recent Macquarie 2012 Access World Championship by way of:

1. preparing the Club for the event and
2. managing and running the on land and the on water elements of the regatta

To say that the Macquarie 2012 Access Worlds was an enormous success is an understatement. The success of the event is due to efforts of approximately 250 volunteers and our marvellous and hardworking staff.

Annual Pointscore Series

The Annual Pointscore Series for 2011/12 has now finished with the Sydney City Marine Winter Series beginning on Saturday 5th May.

Sydney City Marine Winter Series

The Sydney City Marine Winter Series commences next Saturday 5 May through to Saturday 14 July 2012. This is a 10 Race Series with 2 discards and warning signal at 1200hrs. There will be no racing over the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend (9, 10 & 11 June).

Wednesday Series 3

Series 3 has begun, proudly supported by Inner Circle Rum and The Space Day Spa, Manly, and continues through to 30th May 2012. Series entries for Series 3 are still open - click here.

2013 Sydney Harbour Regatta dates announced

Following a successful 2012 Sydney Harbour Regatta, we are excited to announce dates for the 2013 Sydney Harbour Regatta – Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March 2013.

The 2012 Sydney Harbour Regatta boasted 237 boats, across the 16 classes and 24 divisions in the Club’s seventh running of the Regatta.

Date for Meeting for Annual Pointscore Owners & Crew

MHYC Flag Officers and Divisional Representatives invite Annual Pointscore owners and their crew to a post season debrief (inaugural for Inshore owners) and planning session for the next racing season.  A draft agenda is being compiled and will be sent to all Annual Pointscore boat owners via email.

Ben is the current NSWIS Network coach for 29ers and previously Lasers.  He has sailed Lasers for 8 years, 505's, 18' skiffs and various yachts.  He also represented Australia in the 49ers at 2008 Olympics.

Spit Bridge Lift System Upgrade - bridge and road closure update

The RMS has advised that the planned fourteen day period when the bridge will not open to marine traffic has been postponed and will now occur from Monday 14 May to Sunday 27 May 2012, inclusive. This is because of a delay in delivering components required to upgrade the Spit Bridge lift system.
