Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club E Newsletter.  The 34th Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship's last weekend saw Hooligan take out Div #1, with Victoire and The Philosopher's Club winning in their respective divisions, as well as Estate Master winning the 7 Islands Race.  It was a fantastic weekend with the weather giving us a glimpse of fours seasons in one weekend!  For more details, click here to view the SSORC website. 

Seven Islands Race Report

The Seven Islands Race is one of the best races in Sydney Harbour. Forget all the hype about racing offshore where you sail around a mark out to sea and sail home. Too easy. The Seven Islands Race where you have to sail around Shark, Clarke, Fort Dennison, Goat, Cockatoo, Snapper and Spectacle Islands.

Annual Pointscore Series

Race 10 of Annual Inshore Series is on this Saturday 3rd December.

Race 8 Annual Open Pointscore Series is also on this Saturday 3rd December. Competitors in the Open Division are advised that this is a 'Combined Clubs Event' with the RSYS.

Race Management Roster

Each Yacht competing in a Spring, Summer, Annual or Twilight Series is required, on a minimum of one occasion per annum to supply one crew to assist the MHYC Race Management Team. A roster will be produced by the Sailing Manager and issued to all competing yachts.

WACHMAN EXERCISE AND RAFT-UP - 3 & 4 DECEMBER 2011

Dear Cruisers,

As you know we had planned to hold the Wachman Exercise and Raft-Up this weekend however we need to postpone this activity due to a lack of Alternate Skippers wishing to participate. We will re-launch this activity early next year. If you would like to raft in Sugarloaf, Saturday night, you still can.

Tender Service to Pearl Bay

To improve services to Pearl Bay, MHYC will be operating the following system:-

Pick-up
• Pearl Bay Pick up - Tender ready to leave at 9:25am from MHYC tender dock
• Tender departs at 9:30am
• Tender stays on station in Pearl Bay till 10:05am and does return for picks from MHYC.
• Pickups after 9:30am departure from MHYC to be made from Rowers pontoon via Mobile - 0450 275 554 or VHF 73

Drop Off
• Tender to be on station in Pearl Bay by 4:45pm at latest.
• Drop offs will be to Rowers ramp until all boats are collected – or Tender driver has spoken with each

We trust that this will assist with the time frame of the service.

Marina Volunteers - Thank you!

Thank you, once again, to all our volunteers who have been helping around the marina today.  Your efforts are very much appreciated in maintaining the Club's Marina.

Junior Sailing Holiday Camps

MHYC will be running a range of activities these school holidays including
- Tackers Introduction: 3hrs of fun, if your child likes it then they can stay for all 4 days of the Fun Camp!
- Tackers Holiday Fun Camp: 4 days of fun and learning to sail. Great camp to bring your non sailing friends to.
- Teenagers Learn to Sail Camp: 4 days of fun and learning to sail
- Learn to Trapeze and Spinnaker Camp: 4 day camp for experienced sailors
- Little Tackers: Half hour introduction course run all through the holidays for 4-6 years.
- Race and Learn to Race Camps: In preparation for the big events, MHYC will be running Race Camps for Open and Green Fleet sailors as well as 420s. There will also be learning to race camps for those who have completed Tackers.

SunSmart Sailing at Middle Harbour Yacht Club

In honour of National Skin Cancer Action Week last week (20th to 26th November), Middle Harbour Yacht Club has announced a new partnership with Cancer Council New South Wales that will see us become the first SunSmart Community Space in Sydney. The partnership was established in recognition of the important role that sporting clubs have to play in sun protection.

Go Again For Nat

Natalie has spent the last 12 months in Wurzburg with her partner, Andy Fairclough of Flying Fish, and their two year old daughter Elkie, taking part in the clinical trial of a new drug to fight Nat's leukaemia. She now faces another huge battle for life. Click here to read their story.
