New Marina Offer for Long Term Marina Licences - In line with the Club’s long term financing plans, the Board has approved a new offer for long-term marina berth licences. This is an attractive offer for boat owners who want a marina berth, and at the same time enables you to support the Club. Should you have any questions or wish to proceed, enquire now before the Licence allocation is used up, and discuss with Matt Pyne, Neil Padden or Jack Stening.
Update on use of Cala Luna Restaurant Space
Fellow members,
You may have noticed significant changes to club catering arrangements over the last twelve months, with MHYC taking over management of Functions and Events, along with the bistro after EMR Luna chose not to renew their option to run these operations late last year.
Since then the Board has also been in negotiations with Cala Luna as to the next option period provided within their agreement for their use of the restaurant space. As a result of these negotiations Cala Luna chose not to continue their tenure from September 2017.
The Board has then sought expressions of interest for the restaurant area and have been able to secure what we feel is a great tenant for the immediate future. We are happy to advise that Australian Sailing and the Australian Sailing Team (AST) will be taking on this space for office and high performance team management, and intend consolidating their team in the new upstairs MHYC space. This change will involve AST relocating from the space down stairs that will eventually be re-let.
The Board and Management feel these arrangements are a perfect fit for the club and our sport. It will also enable us to use the restaurant kitchen for all food offerings within the club and resolves any conflict of interest issue we have experienced previously by having a contractor servicing the club’s food requirements.
I would like to thank the Board and Management members that have spent many hours on this project and extend a very warm welcome to Australian Sailing and the Australian Sailing Team Management and staff.
Kind Regards,
Andrew Hurt, Chairman, MHYC Board Directors
MHYC Debenture Offer
We are seeking expressions of interest from members to become new Debenture Holders. The Debenture Program helped finance the marina extension in 2014, and several of those debentures are now maturing. The refinancing of those will be mainly through debenture holders rolling over, but we do need some new debentures as well.
These have attractive interest rates and are a secure investment. This opportunity is open to all members.
Please contact the Treasurer, Neil Padden, 0410418665 or npadden@bigpond.net.au
Expressions of interest close 17 November, 2017.

These boats are privately owned but made available to keen sailors looking to expand their racing skills. Otherwise, contact Nicky Bethwaite (nickyb@mhyc.com.au) to organise to go for a sail.
Reminder - Safety Audits & Insurance
All yachts racing in MHYC events this season are required to have successfully completed a safety audit for the category of races they are entering and the new Australian Sailing Special Regulations have come in to force as of July 1. The MHYC Sailing Office will not accept race entries from boats that have not completed their 2017-2018 safety audit and provided evidence of current public liability insurance – these boats will not be included on start lists or eligible for results. To book an audit for your yacht, email sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au or call 9969 1244 to advise the boat name, safety category and preferred day and time.
