E-News 4 October
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend on the water and the beautiful weather!
Our very popular Thursday Twilight Racing series starts tonight - don't miss the fun of the first race! Time to catch up with all your summer sailing friends.
Along with our regular sponsors AllSail and Yacht Sales Australia, we now have new sponsor smoothfm joining us for the first time. Helly Hansen has been a long term sponsor of MHYC, and this year for the first time are also extending their support of our Club to include Twilight Sailing. Robert Oatley Vineyards have confirmed their continued support with great prizes during the season.
There have been some changes to the divisions this year, so please check the entry list for your division number and pursuit start time. To view the start lists and results – click here
A couple of small changes have also been made to the courses, so make sure you pick up a copy of the latest MHYC Sailing Handbook from the office. You can download an electronic version here or download the Twilight Sailing Instructions and Courses here
Two Notices to Competitors have been posted to the Keelboat Racing Noticeboard that are important for Twilight competitors. VHF Channel 72 will be used to provide information to competitors prior to the start and will be monitored throughout the race (click here) and the Pumphouse Start Line will be used for all Twilight starts (click here).
We look forward to seeing you enjoying your summer twilights afloat and ashore!

Twilight Series - Safety Audits & Insurance
All yachts racing in MHYC events this season are required to have successfully completed a safety audit for the category of races they are entering and the new Australian Sailing Special Regulations have come in to force as of July 1. The MHYC Sailing Office will not accept race entries from boats that have not completed their 2017-2018 safety audit and provided evidence of current public liability insurance – these boats will not be included on start lists or eligible for results. To book an audit for your yacht, email sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au or call 9969 1244 to advise the boat name, safety category and preferred day and time.

It's Charity Regatta season again - and we we have the first two for the year coming up:

Held on Friday 20th October - whilst only a small event compared to other regattas, it is equally as important to them to support their annual fund-raising objectives providing much needed assistance for children with autism. If you are interested in donating your yacht and be willing to take on board 8-10 "guest crew" to participate in this race, please contact Karen@mhyc.com.au or Sailing Manager David Staley on sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au as soon as possible.
ASX Thomson Reuters Regatta
The Financial and Media Markets Charity Regatta will take place on Friday 10 November and donated boats are required urgently. Approx 60 boats will be competing for the Cup and last year's event helped the Foundation distribute over $1.2 million to 27 benefiting charities.
In return for your support you will receive:
• Formal recognition for support on the Regatta Website and all printed literature for the event.
• Event merchandise including polo shirt, sailing cap etc. will be provided to the skipper and crew members.
• A lunch box and water will be provided for all skippers and crew.
• An invitation to the after party BBQ which includes complimentary wine and beer, a beach band, dancing, prize giving, auction and raffle.
• A ‘thank you’ bottle of whisky will be given to each owner who donates a yacht.
