Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter. With this beautiful weather hanging around, what better way to spend it than at the Club, on the balcony, enjoying lunch, a glass of wine and the sunshine! 
The NRL State of Origin will be telecast on the big screen in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro from next month for the 2 remaining games -  18th June & 9th July.

Sydney City Marine Winter Series - Race 4

Race 4 of the Sydney City Marine Winter Series was held last Saturday. Race Officer Steve Tucker sent the fleet off on a South Westerly Course and a 10 knot breeze meant that a full course could be completed in the sunshine.

John Crawford’s J24 Innamincka was the first boat home, and the PHS handicap winners for Divisions 1 -3 were Wailea, Anitra May and Innamincka respectively. Stormaway took the IRC honours.

Please note: there will be no Saturday racing on 7th June due to the long weekend or 14th June due to the Get Checked weekend. The SCM Winter Series will resume on Saturday 21st June, 2014.

Wednesday Series 3 supported by Inner Circle Rum

Series 3 for the 2013-14 season finishes today with the final Race 13, Wednesday 28th May, 2014. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is now from 1300 hours. Raffle tickets will be selling post race for the fantastic Meat Tray.

Get Checked Weekend - 14th & 15th June - Bookings Now Open

The annual "Get Checked" weekend will be held on 14th & 15th June, 2014.  This is the perfect opportunity for yacht owners to get the YA Special Regulations Equipment Audits carried out for the coming 2014/15 sailing season.  Bookings are now open.

IRC Weighing Day - 3rd June 2014

Do you need your yacht weighed ?
A yacht weighing has been organised for next Tuesday 3rd June at Sydney Boatshed, Rozelle Bay. MHYC Member, Phil West ,will be the IRC measurer. 4 yachts from MHYC are also to be weighed. Cost is $500, max length approx 45'.

Junior Sailing - 420's Start off with a Bang & a Bust

Last Sunday, MHYC, in conjunction with the 420 Association, held the first of the 5 round 420 Winters Series. With the forecast not looking great RO, Steve Tucker, and the team were looking to start on time and get the most of the morning breeze. After a short delay the first race was underway in a 10-12 knot North Westerly much to everyone’s surprise.

Annual General Meeting - Save the Date!

MHYC's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 24th July, 2014, from 7pm. Life, Full, Sailing, Sailing Under 30 eligible to vote. All welcome.

Adopt A Plank

A draft layout of the allocated planks for those who purchased a plank during the Adopt A Plank program is now available for viewing on the Club noticeboard.  Once the details are finalised, plaques will proceed.  Thank you to all those that have made the Club's new balcony possible.

Club Maintenance & Clean Up - Last week to Clean Up

A clean up around the clubhouse is being organised by volunteers over the coming weeks and all Members are asked to please remove any belongings that they have stored or left around the Club.  Any remaining rubbish will be disposed of by the 31st May.  Many thanks for all your support in helping to maintain a clean and tidy Club.

Cruising Division Life Memberships

Like to get more use and enjoyment from your boat after racing round the buoys?
Why not think about joining the Cruising Division of your Club.
For a small once only fee, the Cruising Division offers Life Membership (of the Cruising Division) to MHYC members with on water events and cruises suitable for the family, often designed to enhance seamanship and safety techniques. Enjoy swapping maintenance tips while honing safety and navigation skills.
The Cruising Division meets 7:30 pm every 3rd Monday in the upstairs Bar (bring your own BBQ before) with monthly Speakers presentations. So come along for you are assured of a genuine welcome.
