Sydney City Marine Winter Series - Race 3

Race 3 of the Sydney City Marine Winter Series was held last Saturday in very light winds resulting in the shortening of the course and an early arrival back at the club for post race drinks and presentation.

Wednesday Series 3 supported by Inner Circle Rum

Series 3 for the 2013-14 season continues today with Race 12, Wednesday 21st May, 2014. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is now from 1300 hours. Raffle tickets will be selling post race for the fantastic Meat Tray.

Get Checked Weekend - 14th & 15th June - Bookings Now Open

The annual "Get Checked" weekend will be held on 14th & 15th June, 2014.  This is the perfect opportunity for yacht owners to get the YA Special Regualtions Equipment Audits carried out for the coming 2014/15 sailing season.  Bookings are now open.  Please contact the Sailing Office on 9969 1244. Fire extinguisher servicing will be available on Saturday 14th June only.
Please note: From 1st July 2015 the YA Blue Book requires all EPIRBs to incorporate a GPS receiver as this additional feature reduces the search area considerably and greatly increases your chance of survival if ever the unthinkable happens.   Click here for more information.

Inshore Owners Meeting - Wednesday 21st May, 2014, at 6pm

An Inshore Owners meeting will be held tonight from 6pm in the Main Bar. Any inshore owners or crew are welcome to atttend to discuss the past and upcoming seasons.

Junior Sailing - Spit Championships - Cancelled

The Spit Championships, due to be held Sunday 25th May, has been cancelled  The 420 Winter Series will still go ahead as planned.  For further information, please contact Locky at juniorsailing@mhyc.com.au.

Bookings for the July School Holiday camps will be available in the coming weeks.

Commodore’s Ball – Celebrate in Style - Friday 12th September, 2014 - Online Bookings Open Next Week

Preparations are well underway for MHYC's Commodore’s Ball to be held on Friday 12th September 2014 from 7pm.  A great celebration of the Club’s proud 75 years of sailing and marine activities and the outstanding achievements by its Members. Due to expected numbers, we will be holding the Ball at Orso Function Centre, with canapes and drinks at the Club prior. Live entertainment with Jellybean Jam.  Dress: Black tie.  Cost: $160 per head.  Numbers are limited.

Annual General Meeting - Save the Date!

MHYC's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 24th July, 2014, from 7pm. Life, Full, Sailing, Sailing Under 30 eligible to vote.

Adopt A Plank

A draft layout of the allocated planks for those who purchased a plank during the Adopt A Plank program is now available for viewing on the Club noticeboard.  Once the details are finalised, plaques will proceed.  Thank you to all those that have made the Club's new balcony possible.

Club Maintenance & Clean Up

A clean up around the clubhouse is being organised by volunteers over the coming weeks and all Members are asked to please remove any belongings that they have stored or left around the Club.  Any remaining rubbish will be disposed of by the 31st May.  Many thanks for all your support in helping to maintain a clean and tidy Club.

Cruising Division Life Memberships

Like to get more use and enjoyment from your boat after racing round the buoys?
Why not think about joining the Cruising Division of your Club.
For a small once only fee, the Cruising Division offers Life Membership (of the Cruising Division) to MHYC members with on water events and cruises suitable for the family, often designed to enhance seamanship and safety techniques. Enjoy swapping maintenance tips while honing safety and navigation skills.
The Cruising Division meets 7:30 pm every 3rd Monday in the upstairs Bar (bring your own BBQ before) with monthly Speakers presentations. So come along for you are assured of a genuine welcome.

Team Windcraft Launch 2nd Hanse Yacht Raffle in support of Sailors with disABILITIES

In 2011 Team Windcraft raised $252,000 for Bear Cottage, the children’s hospice in Manly, by raffling a Hanse Yacht. And this week at their Annual Owners' rally on Pittwater they launched their 2nd Art Union Raffle. This time the prize is a Hanse 345 and the beneficiary is Sailors with disABILITES(SWD). The yacht comes ready to sail with 12 months Club Marine Insurance, making the total prize value over $250,000. There are only 5000 tickets priced at $100 each which can be bought online at www.winahanseyacht.com.au.
