Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.  Another great Barefoot Ball has been and gone!  Hope those who attended had a great time!  Many thanks to those who helped make it a success. Photos will be uploaded to the website over this week - look out for them.

Twilight Member Night this Thursday 27th Feb - $5 food plus raffles, prizes & wine tasting.

Sydney Harbour Regatta - 8th & 9th March 2014 - Entries Close Friday 28th February, 2014 

Late entries are still being accepted until midnight Friday February 28, but attract a late entry fee. 
Live beachside entertainment on Saturday from 4.30pm with The Regulators (this band played at the weekend's Barefoot Ball and received a thumbs up from party goers!). Presentation on Sunday afternoon with live entertainment to follow.

Wild Oats Thursday Twilights - 27th February, 2014

The Wild Oats Thursday Twilight Series continues - Race 20 tomorrow Thursday 27th February, 2014. There will be 23 pointscore races in the Series with the final race being on 27th March 2014.

Feature Event - March Cup & Women's Race Day - 1st March 2014

MHYC's next Feature Event, the March Cup & Women's Race Day, will be held on Saturday 1st March, 2014. Spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions plus trophies for all female crew and female helm with mixed crew.  Clubhouse start from 1230hrs.  Get your wives, partners, friends together for a fun day on the water!

Congratulations to Transfusion - crowned National Champions

The Aberdeen Asset Management John Calvert-Jones Trophy: Australian Championship was sailed on the River Derwent, Hobart, Tasmania from 18th to 22nd February 2014. Guido Belgiorno-Nettis’ Transfusion team has pulled off a trifecta of Australian titles and claimed a record five National Championships: John Calvert-Jones Trophy crowns since the series’ inception in 2000.

Great Cadet Racing

Last weekend saw some intense and close racing in the Cadet class. Nine Cadets faced the starter for race one with Oscar Beregi and Patrick Schmeide graduates of the club learn-to-sail programme joining the fleet for the subsequent two races. They performed very well in their first race beating at least one regular race boat home. The class looks forward to welcoming many more youngsters from the club fleet joining in the weekly racing programme.
At the sharp end of the fleet Blitzem and Pepsea fought out a battle royal, never more than a couple of boat lengths apart and with some clever tactics employed by both boats. In the end, it was 2-1 to Blitzem with Seaquence a close third on the day.

Sailing Clinic - Tactics & Strategies

MHYC's next sailing clinic for MHYC Members and guests will be on Tactics & Strategies, presented by guest speaker, Craig Ferris. A great clinic for those competing in the upcoming Sydney Harbour Regatta to hone their skills!
Wednesday 26th February, 2014, from 7.30pm. $10 MHYC Members/$20 Non Members.

Twilight Member Night - Thursday 27th February, 2014

The second last Twilight Member Night for 2013/14 season will be held next Thursday 27th February.  Tempura Battered Fish & Shoestring Chips with lime aioli and salads for $5 per person, raffles, prizes, tastings.  Get the crew together for a fun night post race.

Sunday at the Club

Notice to Members - this Sunday the Hawaiian Airlines Sydney Harbour Challenge Regatta 2014 will be held at the Club with an expectation of over 50 outriggers launching from the beach and racing on Sydney Harbour.  Post race bbq and party will be held back at the Club. We are anticipating a busy day at the Club with parking at a premium.  There will be no Junior sailing held this Sunday due to the Regatta.
