MHYC Juniors Shine down South!
A number of MHYC Juniors traveled down south the cold waters of Melbourne for the annual Christmas and New Year regattas. MHYC did extremely well with Otto Henry becoming the Australian National Champion in the Optimists at just 12 years old.
Dana Tavener and Cathy Pagett won the Australian Youth titles as well as the Youth Grand Prix Series
along with Finn Gilbert and Louie Collins winning the boys Youth Grand Prix Series
420 Nationals at Sorrento Sailing and Couta Boat Club (43 entries)

Top 7 Boys teams and Top 7 Girls teams qualified for the International 420 worlds. So the above teams qualified for the boys. MHYC girls teams who qualified were Dana Tavener and Cathy Pagett, Sandya and Kanya Raj, Sophie McIntosh and Demi Gilbert, Charlotte Griffin and Kirsty Sturrock.

Finn and Louie & Dana and Cathy also won the boys and girls Australian 420 Youth Grand Prix series respectively.
Moving on to the Opti National Championships at Mornington YC. 344 entries - biggest ever centreboard dinghy championship in Australia.

Otto will have place in the Australian Optimist worlds team and Ashley will have a place on the Australian optimist Asian Championships team.
