Annual Sail Past & Opening Day - 7th September - Diamond Jubilee Year!
The Annual Sail Past & Opening Day will be held this Saturday 7th September, 2013. MHYC is in it's 75th year so there will be many celebrations for our birthday and Diamond Jubilee. Beginning at 9am with a breakfast for volunteers, Hamilton Island Earlybird Membership Prize Draw, followed by activities for the kids, live music with Evan Powis, wine tasting with Robert Oatley Vineyards and our annual Sail Past - the theme this year being "Birthday Celebrations" So dress up your boat and crew for a day of fun.

 MHYC extends Invitation to Owners of Motor Cruisers to join the Club
Consistant with the Club’s Strategic Plan for the 5 year period to 2017 which involves the broadening of our footprint to cover aquatic boating activities other than sailing, we are pleased to advise that an invitation is being sent out to owners of motor cruisers in our Spit/Middle Harbour area to join our Club, and enjoy all of the benefits that club membership and associated facilities can add to the pleasures of boating – whether by sail – or by power – or by the good old tried & tested method of arms & legs as involved in paddling/kayaking.

MHYC's 2013-14 Sailing Handbook is now available for collection or to download - click here. One copy per Member of the Sailing Handbook is available from the Sailing Office. Extra copies are available to purchase for $10.
Skippers & Crew Meet and Greet Evening - 5th September - 6pm
Skippers seeking crew for the Season can address the meeting, outlining their plans for the season and the type of crew they are seeking: potential crew can then introduce themselves to skippers and ask further questions: it is envisaged that crew attendees will be those currently on the crew list, new MHYC members and Junior Sailing parents. Please reply with your attendance to Roger at roger@mhyc.com.au.
Commodore's Front Up! Cup - Saturday 7th September, 2013
The first event of the new 2013/14 season is the Commodore's Front Up! Cup, this Saturday 7th September, 2013. 1230 hours Clubhouse start. Click here to enter online.
MHYC Crew Membership Prize Draw available to non member crew racing on an eligible yacht competing in the Commodore's front Up! Cup. Registration forms will be available at reception.

Adopt A Plank - Final Stage - It's nearly finished!!
Help the Club complete the balcony - only 100 planks left to sell. Adopt a plank for a cost of $100. Your plank will then have your desired name inscribed on the plank. This is every Member's opportunity to not only help the Club, but also to be part of the Club's ongoing legacy. Adopting a plank is easy.  Notice to Boat Owners - Flare Practice - 16th Sept
The Cruising Division’s flare practices are always popular and the next one is on 16 Sept 2013 at 6.30pm. All are welcome. Practice skills we hope you never need (then again – better to know how rather than fumbling around in the dark in time of real need).
Bring your own flares (no parachute rockets, please) and let them off on the beach in front of the club house.

Series 1 for the 2013-14 season begins today with Race 1, Wednesday 4th September, 2013. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is now from 1300 hours. Raffle tickets will be selling post race for the fantastic Meat Tray.
