Craig Ferris will be talking about reading the wind, selecting a side of the course, geographical influence - a great clinic for the Winter season and leading up into the 2013/14 Sailing Season.

MHYC Membership Renewals

Renewal notices for the 2013/14 membership season will be posted out to Members this week. Renew your membership before 18th August, 2013, to go in the draw to win a Hamilton Island escape for 2 people for 3 nights in the Reef View Hotel (airfares not included).  There's never been a better time to be a Member of MHYC.  All aboard for our Diamond Jubilee celebrations for our 75th year!

Mosman Council Car Parking Stickers for 2013/14  -Available  Online!

Get your car parking permit for the Spit Foreshore areas for the 2013/2014 period, now through to 30th June 2014. MHYC Members can now receive a 50% discounted fee of $140 per sticker.

Adopt A Plank - Final Stage

Help the Club complete the balcony.  Adopt a plank for a cost of $100.  Your plank will then have your desired name inscribed on the plank.  This is every Member's opportunity to not only help the Club, but also to be part of the Club's ongoing legacy.  Adopting a plank is easy.  Simply complete the form and hand it into  reception - click here to download form.

Election of Flag Officers & Directors

Notice to Members - B Arm Closed

B Arm is now closed to access and A Arm is the new Emergency arm and needs to be kept clear at all times.  Members will also notice that the barge has arrived to begin construction of the marina extension.

Wednesday Series 4

Series 4 for the 2012-13 season, race 8 for the Series today, Wednesday 24th July, 2013.  Entries are open online - click here.   Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also handicap start is now from 1300 hours.  Raffle tickets will be selling post race for the fantastic Meat Tray.

Sydney City Marine Winter Series

Race 10 and the final race of Middle Harbour Yacht Club’s Sydney City Marine Winter Series was held last Saturday 19th July, 2013. Congratulations to all participants and winners.  Results are as follows:-

MHYC Sailing Handbook 13/14 - Advertising Space Available

Advertising space in the 2013/14 Sailing Handbook is now available. Please contact Alister Copley at alister@mhyc.com.au, for rates and more details. The new edition of the Sailing Handbook is currently in production and will be available to Members at the end of August for the new sailing season.

Notice to Boat Owners

We will shortly be preparing the 2013-2014 MHYC Sailing Handbook for publication, and this will include the Member’s Boat Register.

The MHYC Boat Register is a list of boats owned by current Life, Full Adult, or Senior Members. If your vessel was listed in the last handbook and there have been no changes it will appear again as before: if your vessel was not listed and you would like it to be, or if you have acquired a new vessel or sold your current one, please let us have the appropriate details so that the new listing is as accurate and up to date as possible.

Annual Skippers Briefing

The Annual Skippers Briefings will be held on Friday 30th August and Thursday 26th September, 2013, from 6.00pm  Each boat must be represented on either of the 2 nights.  More details to come.

Term 3 Squads Start off with a Bang!

Last Sunday saw MHYC Junior sailing kick off term 3 in what was perfect but chilly conditions on the harbour. It started with a Cadet Race Squad starting up for the first time under the watchful eye of new coach Henry Bagnell. Henry comes with a wealth of experience in Cadets, Lasers, Finns and a number of different yachts. It was a great sight to see 6 Cadets out training and racing all day. The Optimist Squad was light on with numbers due to the Ice Breaker Championship at RPAYC, but there was still 3 sailors that braved the morning training before being joined by another 3 for the racing in the afternoon.

An Early Start to Spring Sailing

As the sunny days continue in one of the mildest Winters in memory, Middle Harbour Yacht Club's Junior Sailing program launched into term 3 last weekend. With Spring just around the corner it’s a great time to get down to MHYC and take advantage of the smaller class sizes and get the kids ahead of the game for the coming season. While no fun for the skiers among us, the warm weather should see some great times on the water with an early start to the seabreezes that make Spring sailing on Sydney Harbour so much fun.
