Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.  
Last night MHYC held a welcome night for Redlands parents and their children who are involved in the Redlands program at the Club.  Olympian Malcolm Page and "Medal Maker" Victor Kovalenko were guest speakers, giving passionate speeches and talking with the kids. Past Redlands student, Josh McKnight, current Moth World Champion and other ex-students were also on hand to give out advice. It was great to see so many enthusiastic junior sailors!  We now have 90 Redlands sailors at the Club on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Beach BBQ & Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for Twilights

The delicious menu offerings for the Twilight Series will again consist of either casual meals from the BBQ ranging in price from $7 to $12, from Thai chicken & vegetable curry or Trout pasta salad, to a Twilight bistro menu in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro.  Bookings are essential for the Bistro. Special Twilight Membership for New Members

MHYC will be offering a special Twilight Membership for new members wishing to join the Club for the Twilight season.  The cost will be $274.00 (inc YA fee) and expires 31st August 2013.  Conditions apply. Get your crew ready for the season.

Thursday Twilight Race 1 Report

There was a great turn out of over 40 boats for the first Middle Harbour Yacht Club Thursday twilight race for 2012/2013 season. This was in spite of the poor weather forecast of rain & strong winds.

MHYC Sprints Series

The new MHYC Sprint Series has arrived! The new racing format forms part of the Annual, Spring and Summer Pointscores for all the regular Saturday racing Divisions and will be a Series within its own right. With twice the amount of action packed into the one day, each division will race two consecutive short course Windward/Leeward races which will surely spice up the racing season. Dates for the first round of Sprint Racing are; 

Saturday 20th October – 1st Warning Signal at 1255 hrs
Sprints Race 1 & 2: Open Division

After a week of the weather forecasts bouncing around we finally came down to a day of Southerlies of 10 to 15 knots.

So out to have a look at the Sound to see where the course was likely to be set. The buoy was set just inside South Head and after a while we had the Start Boat take up station South west of the Bombora Marks.

Term 4 Junior Sailing

Middle Harbour Paddlers Club 1st Twilight Time Trial

Last week we saw the successful launch and running of the first Wednesday evening time trial. Paddlers came from all over Sydney to participate in what is sure to become a regular mid week training session.

CYCA Safety Day

On Sunday November 4, commencing at 9.30 am, The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia will be holding a Marine Safety Day that no one who ventures to sea, be it cruising or racing, should miss.
One of the main features is information about what will happen if you run into trouble at sea that you can't handle and radio for assistance.
