Last week MHYC Member and Olympic Gold Medallist, Malcolm Page, was down at the Club for a Foxtel interview, with both his medals and spent time talking with our Tackers during one of the junior sailing holiday Camps.  Much to the delight of the kids, he jumped in an Opti and raced them to the end of the Marina and back!

Paper entries will not be available. Online entry demonstrations will be conducted on Wednesday afternoons at reception.  Please contact the Sailing Office for more information.

Beach BBQ & Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for Twilights

The delicious menu offerings for the Twilight Series will again consist of either casual meals from the BBQ ranging in price from $7 to $12, from Nachos (Beef or Vegetarian) to Lemon & Pepper Chicken, to a Twilight bistro menu in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro.  Bookings are essential for the Bistro. Special Twilight Membership for New Members

MHYC will be offering a special Twilight Membership for new members wishing to join the Club for the Twilight season.  The cost will be $274.00 (inc YA fee) and expires 31st August 2013.  Conditions apply. Get your crew ready for the season.

New Scanner for MHYC

The Club has installed a licence scanner to enable easier use of non Members and Members' guests signing into the Club and legallising the entrance rule of the NSW Clubs Act.  We will be trialling the scanner at tomorrow nights Wild Oats Thursday Twilight race, so please be patient and advise any guests that you have coming along, who are not Members, that they will be required to sign-in.

MHYC Sprints Series

The new MHYC Sprint Series has arrived! The new racing format forms part of the Annual, Spring and Summer Pointscores for all the regular Saturday racing Divisions and will be a Series within its own right. With twice the amount of action packed into the one day, each division will race two consecutive short course Windward/Leeward races which will surely spice up the racing season. Also adding to the spectacle will be the SASC (Super 30) Division, racing during round one and starting before the Adams 10’s. Dates for the first round of Sprint Racing are;

Saturday 13th October – 1st Warning Signal at 1255 hrs
Sprints Race 1 & 2: SASC Div, Adams 10m Div, No.1 Div, No.2 Div & No.3 Div
 

Saturday 20th October – 1st Warning Signal at 1255 hrs
Sprints Race 1 & 2: Open Division

Spring Pointscore Racing continues this weekend, 13th October 2012, with the Open Division racing offshore and the Inshore Divisions racing in the new Sprints Format.

Series 1 for the 2012-13 season, Race 6 today, Wednesday 10th October, 2012. Entries are available online - click here. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up and also, as of today, handicap start is from 1330 hours.

Sail 10 Pass

The new Sail 10 Pass is a pre-paid payment facility for Owner’s and Skipper’s who race on a casual basis in a Series held at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. The Sail 10 Pass enables Owners and Skippers to pay for a block of 10 casual entries and is flexible enough to use across all MHYC series. The pre-paid ten races must be used before the end of the season (31 August 2013) after which they will expire. To purchase the Sailing 10 Pass, please contact the Sailing Office. Price: $405.00 (pre-paid).

New for 2012 - Casual 10 Card for Tender Service

MHYC has introduced a new Casual 10 Card for those Members requiring Tender Service on a casual basis. The cost is $250 for 10 return trips. One trip consists of a dropoff/pickup completed on the same day. Click here for the Tender Service form.

Term 4 Junior Sailing

Tackers 1 and Learn to Sail Trapeze & Spinnaker programs for Term 4 are now full. There are still vacancies for Tackers, 2, 3 and Teeenage Learn to Sail, which begins on Sunday 21st October, 2012. For more information and to download an enrolment form - click here.

International Cadets training at MHYC

Over the weekend of 6-7 October a highly successful pre-nationals training camp was held at the new home of the Cadet class in NSW, the prestigious Middle Harbour Yacht Club. Eight NSW boats were joined by current national champion Samantha Bailey from Hobart for two day of intense skills and race practice, strategy sessions and rig set-up.

Middle Harbour Paddlers Club

The Middle Harbour Paddlers Club will be trialling the ability to run a Twilight Time Trial from MHYC, tonight, 10th October, with registration from 5.30pm and race start at 6.30pm.

Melbourne Cup at MHYC

Join us for the race that stops a nation - Melbourne Cup - on Tuesday 6th November, 2012, in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro from 12 noon.

$70 Members/$80 Non Members.

Fire Extinguishers Course

MHYC Marina Staff and Tender Drivers completed a Fire Extinguisher course last week.  It involved understanding the use of all types of fire extinguishers and their effects as well as their practical use. Another course will be held for MHYC volunteers in the next couple of weeks.

Summer Trading Hours

Many of you have been asking when our Summer Trading Hours kick in - with the Twilights starting, we will commence our extended trading hours from this week.
