Thursday Twilight Series Race 2

New for this season's Twilight series, entries shall be split into 6 divisions.
Count up start from 6pm.  Competitors are reminded to refer to MHYC Special Regulation 16.2 with regards to the start line.

Members are advised that all t-heads are to be vacated after this evening's twilight race for Giant Steps Regatta being held at MHYC tomorrow.

B and C Arm t-heads are designated tonight for kiss and drop only.

Spring Pointscore Series 1 Race 4

Division 1

Well another overcast Saturday was upon us. The forecast was for light winds dropping as the day progressed. This combined with a 90% chance of rain was only going to make it one of those days.

Division 3

The forecast was for no wind with thunderstorms which fortunately didn’t eventuate. The start saw steady southerly winds at 12 to 15 knots but at the finish it had dropped to 7 knots.

Notice to Members Re: Car Stickers

The 2012 MHYC car stickers sent to members with their new cards when renewing for 2011/2012, unfortunately, were printed for the inside of a car and subsequently the colour is fading.  We have received new stickers for current members, UV protected, which can be collected from reception.  Please note that these stickers are only for use when parking in the 8 MHYC car parking spots adjacent to the Club building, and are not for free parking in the Mosman Council carpark.

Marina Maintenance Team

The monthly marina maintenance team were on site at MHYC marina today assisting with a variety of tasks keeping our marina up to scratch. Lead by Christopher Deane, Stuart Cummings, Trevor D’Alton and Staff member, Chris Stockdale, tightened, repaired and fixed a variety of issues around the marina.

The next Marina Maintenance day is on Thursday 2^nd November at 9:30am – 3:30pm. Everyone is welcome and lunch is provided for all. For further information, please talk to Chris or Alister in the office.

Junior Sailing Term 4 

The sun came out for the first week of Term 4 as 15 new sailors began the MHYC Tackers 1 Course. These new sailors did a swimming test and some rigging theory before getting their first chance to steer a boat. Tackers 2 focused on capsizing drills as the wind picked up and Tackers 3 fine tuned their boat handling.

There are still vacancies in all classes however some classes are filling up fast including 420 Learn to Sail 3 and Tackers 1. If you would like to enrol please contact Meghan or head to www.juniorsailing.com.au for all forms. Enrolments will not be accepted after the 2nd class on the 16th October.

Eleven MHYC sailors backed up from the long weekend of racing in Illawarra and attended the RPAYC Spring Cup last weekend.

Annual Pointscore Series

The 2011-2012 Annual Inshore Pointscore Series  continues with Race 5 this Saturday 15th October, 2011. Sailing Instructions as per MHYC Handbook.

Competitors in the Open Divison are advised that competitors from the RSYS No.1 Division will be racing in this division for a Combined Clubs event.

PRO Phil Yeomans wishes to remind competitors to read their sailing instrauctions in this years heandbook, as some of the courses have been altered from last year.

A limited number of handbooks have been supplied by the CYCA & RSYS, so only one (1) handbook shall be issued to each MHYC boat for the season.

Middle Harbour Trek & Women's Race - Saturday 29th October, 2011

The NOR for the Middle Harbour Trek and Women's Race will be available online soon.

Craigmoor Melbourne Cup Luncheon

The race that stops a Nation!  MHYC will be holding its annual Melbourne Cup Luncheon on Tuesday 1st November, 2011, from 12 noon with sweeps, calcutta and prizes for best dressed and best hat - including an amazing gourmet hamper!

MHYC Members $70 per person

Non Members $80 per person

Tables of 10 or more $70 per person

Price includes a glass of Craigmoor sparkling wine on arrival, 3 course menu and tea/coffee.

SAP Ecosystem Regatta for Redkite

Redkite is a national charity that supports children and young people, and their families, through the cancer journey. The Regatta for Redkite (initiated by the SAP Ecosystem Foundation, www.sapef.org) is to be run by Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Mosman, Sydney.

Businesses can enter the Regatta for Redkite by making a minimum $1500 tax-deductible donation to Redkite, plus $100 per crew member. Read more...
