Don't Forget! Youth Sailing Annual Prize Giving Presentation - NEW DATE 29th May
MHYC's Youth Sailing Prize Giving Presentation has been moved to Sunday the 29th of May, with a presentation starting at 1pm with sailing activities in the afternoon and a sausage sizzle will be provided. There will also be a special guest from the Australian Sailing Team (TBA, due to constantly traveling) who will have a talk about their sailing career and how they reached their goals. The club will also be farewelling Locky Pyror as he resigned from Youth sailing manager, but welcoming Nick Connor who is taking over his role.
As well as a sausage sizzle, we'll have 3 Melges 20s available to take out sailing, so why don't you give them a try! We'll have experienced skippers on hand to help introduce you to these fast and exciting keelboats, and you can sign up to race them next season.
New Level of Excellence to be introduced to Youth Sailing in 2016-2017
A new level is being introduced into MHYC's Youth Training Program, and that is an opportunity for kids who have completed the Learn to Sail or Learn to Race programs to have one-on-one, face-to-face expert tuition out on the water. It will help to perfect tacking and gybing skills, steering and balance and will give that extra bit of confidence that may be required before starting to race or going out on your own. Talk to Nick Connor if you are interested and he'll book you in.
Tackers and LTS Term 2 Open
Online bookings are now open for Term 2. MHYC will be running Tackers, Teenagers Learn to Sail and Squad Training from May 1st to June 26th.
It's not too late to sign up, as you can pay from when you start the program.

Holiday Camps for Winter are now Open
The Holiday Camps are on again. A highlight of our regular program, the holiday camps provide days of healthy outdoor fun for kids and staff alike. The longer sessions ensure lots of time on the water for honing our sailing skills, while still having time for mucking about with our mates.
The classes start at 0915am with earliest drop offs at 0900am. Further out of hours care is available by arrangement. Pick up is at 1530pm from the Yacht Club. Please be sure to sign your child in and out each day.
Providing a bit of pocket money is encouraged on the final day as we all sail to Balmoral for some fish and chips for lunch.

Up Coming Regattas
Regattas are all about fun whilst learning alot of new skills and meeting new friends, and in the next coming months there are two regattas that are available:
-East Coast Championship at Royal Prince Alfreds Yacht Club in Newport - 11-12th of June, 2016 (June Long Weekend)(OPTIS)
We can provide transport of boats for a small fee, if needed!
-Queensland Youth Week at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron from the 1st - 5th of July
If we get enough boats for these regattas we will send a coach that will be assisting the sailors on and off the water.
