MHYC Squads
Sunday saw the first Club Championship race for over 6 years as well as for the summer and the weather didn't disappoint . Sydney turned on a perfect summers day with a 20-25knot North Easter. This allowed the 420s to flex their muscle and show the younger kids where they could end up. The Cadets proved they are just as resilient with all boats saying out and handling the conditions with ease. A thanks to all the parents that helped over the day.
This week we have the first of our adventure races around Middle harbour, this includes using YA marks as well as MHYC marks all the information is in the Handbook and there will be a briefing on the courses at 1300. The 420s are the Duty class however a few cadet parents will be filling to reciprocate from last weeks effort.
Most of you by now should have received the new Centreboard Division Handbook. This will have all the dates for both Club and Class events, Courses and Information for race days and volunteer information.
A soft copy will be made available on the website by the end of the week. For any more questions please see Locky.
Junior Sailings Name Change!!!
Over the coming weeks you will start to notice the phasing out the club Junior Sailing title and the addition of Youth Sailing. The club has recognised that the clubs Junior Sailing program has out grown the title with a large quantity of the sailors being teenagers. We are also looking into adding a Sports boat program in the coming years to further add to sailing pathway at the club. With the addition of the Sports Boats we will have more than just juniors in our program. This is a huge milestone for the Club and we thank all the past and present sailors that have been involved to make this happen.
Youth Sailing Coaches and Instructors Development Nights
Over the past month a number of new faces have been working for the Youth Sailing program in a variety of roles, from coaching and instructing, to maintenance. This is part of Youth Sailing's endeavour to improve and lead the way for our staff to develop their skills.
