MHYC Squads
This Sunday will mark the final day of the winter and term 3. Every class will have training for the day before returning to the Club for a BBQ to end the winter season.
For the coming Summer there will be a number of changes to the way racing and coaching will run. This will include a Centreboard hand book that will be available for that want to race and have information on the year ahead. These changes will hopefully be announced and implemented over the next week. We hope this will make the program bigger and better in years to come. So watch this space!!
OPEN DAY A WET BUT FUN DAY
Opening Day was another fun filled day with plenty happening - even in the rain! The sun shone for our Sail Past with the prizes for Best Dressed Boat going to Zen and Best Dressed Crew, to Sanctum. We also had a commendation award given to Bloodhound for their Royal family polo players - congratulations to all and thank you for all your efforts. The winner of our Hamilton Island prize draw for early membership renewal went to Ian Sweeneyl, who was rapt to receive his first ever prize!
Congratulations also to Sol (David Naismith) who has won the Commodore's Front Up Cup three years in a row!
The juniors had fun with sails in 420's, Open Bic's, Cadets and Optimits all morning while having a number of connect four competitions. The day was then finished off with the annual treasure all over the yacht club. Thanks to all those that turned up for the day.

Race Management Volunteers Required for 2014/15 Season
Our new Sailing Season starts on Saturday 6 September with the Annual Sail Past and Commodores Front Up Cup, with the first on-water start on the 13 September.
We would welcome new volunteers for the start boat “Hugh George” for the coming season. Volunteers on the Club's start boat enjoy learning race management skills and being part of a team with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Newcomers will always be placed with experienced race officers. A light lunch and refreshments are provided, and on “Hugh George” you will be comfortable and largely protected from the elements.
So if you are no longer sailing regularly and can spare the odd Saturday, or have a spouse, friend or partner for example who would like to be out on the water while you are racing, please advise the Sailing Office and a roster will be prepared, or let us know if you would like further information.
