Vale Roy Cooper 1924-2011. Sadly, Life Member of MHYC, Roy Cooper passed away early this week.  Roy started sailing at a relatively late age of 50 when a relative bought a Triton 24 in 1975 and continued to sail Tritons until January 1991 when he joined the MHYC Start Team.

Roy's funeral service will be held tomorrow, Friday 12th August, 2011, at 10.30am at St Alban's Anglican Church, Pembroke Street, Epping for members wishing to attend.

Skippers Briefing & Annual Get Set Weekend - 26th-28th August 2011

The Skippers Briefing will be held on Friday 26th August, 2011 from 7.00pm.  All boats intending to compete shall attend the Skipper Briefing or a representative of the boat.

The Annual Get Set Weekend will follow the Skippers Briefing over the weekend of 27th and 28th August, 2011.  Audit bookings are now available through the Sailing Office or email to andrew@mhyc.com.au.

Members are encouraged, for this year, to make their own pre-arrangements for the following services, as they will be limited during the Get Set Weekend.

Season Entries & Notice of Race Now Available

Notice to members that the Season Entry Forms and Notice of Race are now available on line - click here -  and in the foyer of the Club.

New for 2011/2012, is the Club Short Series which is a short inshore series of 7 races throughout the season, one discard. Held in conjunction with the Annual Inshore Series and existing divisions. Results shall be obtained through Arbitrary Handicapping (PHS) and IRC2011 Rules (IRC2011) ratings. YA Special Regulations Category 4 and 7 events. View the Sailing Handbook for race schedules, sailing instructions as per Annual Inshore Series.

Sydney to Gold Coast Race Report

It is that time of the year again and MHYC’s offshore boats are starting their Summer Racing program by heading North. The Audi Sydney to Gold Coast race was the first race in the 2011-12 MHYC Gillawa Shield offshore series. As soon as you cross that border, the weather changes to summer.

Great Northern Trek

After the Audi Sydney to Gold Coast race, there are a number of races going North that ends with the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. We have a number of members once more making the trek into the warmer waters and over the next few weeks will hopefully be hearing reports from them.

Expiration of Special Regulation Equipment Compliance

Please note ALL Special Regulation Equipment Compliance (Safety Certificates) have now expired as of 30 June 2011. Competitors entered into the current Wednesday Series (4) and Leading Edge Series do not require a new audit until the completion of these series.
 

2011-12 Special Regulation Forms are available from the foyer of the Clubhouse or online, www.mhyc.com.au.

The A Arm T Head has now been repaired and ready for use.  Significant improvements have been made for long term maintenance.

Survey to Support Eden Marina

Twofold Bay Yacht Club at Eden has requested assistance by responding to a survey of yacht clubs whose members might use a marina in Eden; if safe all weather moorings were available.

The brief survey is asking for an estimate of how many of their members would pass Eden each year and how many would call at the port and length of stay if a marina was available.
