Reminder to all members that the Sailing Clinic on Computers and Navigation, with guest speaker, Frank Walker, is on tonight in the Quarterdeck from 7.30pm.  We also have 10 double movie passes to giveaway at the clinic for the movie, "Get Low", starring Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and Robert Duvall. Sydney City Marine Winter Series

The Sydney City Marine Winter Series welcomes club racers and cruisers and encourages yachts from neighbouring clubs to participate either as a Series entrant or as a casual entrant.

Every Saturday through to 16th July, 2011.  Spinnaker, non-spinnaker and IRC divisions with racing commencing at 1200 hours on the Sound. 

Competitors are reminded to collect their bow decals from the sailing office prior to racing.

Sailing Clinic - Computers & Navigation - Thursday 19th May, 2011

Guest speaker, Frank Walker, will be talking on the use of tactical navigation software and computer equipment that is being used by race boats in races as diverse as the Volvo Around the World race to club races - offshore or sprint type. He will also review the sorts of equipment available, software, sources for wind and ocean current data files.

Jazz Lunch at the Club

The next Jazz Lunch will be held on Friday 27th May, from 12.30pm, in the Upperdeck.  $10 per person entry. Special lunch menu available  $12 - $15 per person.

Marina Extension DA Update

The "Spit" Championships - Sunday 29th May

State/National Race Officers Course

Yachting NSW is hosting a State/National Race Officers Course at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on the Saturday 25 –Sunday 26 June 2011.

To become a State / National Race Office you will also have to be assessed on water and have events experience.

Cost to attend the 2 day course is $120, which includes all the course material, lunches and handouts.

The Sailing Office is currently putting together the MHYC Handbook for 2011/2012.  If you wish to have your yacht on the Yacht Register or need to update your boat details, including a copy of your insurance policy details, please contact Andrew at
sailing-administrator@mhyc.com.au.

Please be reminded that your yacht will not be added to the Yacht Register without your current insurance details forwarded to the Sailing Office.

Are You Looking for Crew?  Or Wanting to Crew?

For any skippers who are looking for new crew or just need that extra crew member, there are several options available to ensure your competitiveness in the Sydney City Marine Winter Series.

The Sailing Office is always available to help with your crew requests and has an extensive email database of persons who have indicated their interest in crewing opportunities. An online version is also available - click here.

The most effective and popular method is picking up crew from the Breezeway on the Saturday mornings prior to the race. Crew can leave their details on the Crew Board and vice versa with boats requiring crew.
