MEMBER FEATURE - SKIPPER NEIL FROM FRENCH CONNECTION
Hi folks,
Well last nights combined MHYC Twilight Race 17 & 5th Women’s Series had everything. It was a stiff breeze and course was Shark Island and home. There were over 40 boats racing and the club house was buzzing after the race.
Jackie did her usual professional job on the helm and we came 8th - and just behind Peach Teats Victory by 2 minutes after a close tussle all around the course. We were the 10th fastest boat and now placed 6th overall on 25 points (1st place is on 21 points so anybody can win the post Xmas Series with 7 races to go). In the Women’s Series we are coming 2nd.
The crew were kept busy and Dave was the power house on the main. Matt, Kathy, Fiona, Helen, Richard and Simon had no time to relax (not like me 😎) with furling, reefing, poling out, tacking, jib trimming, beer wenching etc etc. Phew. It was thirsty work.
We had an interesting interaction with our old friend The Collaroy and some anxious moments after a starboard call from Bula.
Dinner/drinks on the balcony is always a winner made more lively by some spirited discussion 😳
Thanks Matt & Dave for helping with delivering FC.
Great to hear about Kathy & Richards skiing holidays in Japan and good that Fiona & Helen could make it in time for sailing. Mike was at the airport picking up Eva who next week can give a first hand report of the Tasmanian bushfires!!
Cannot wait for next week!
- Neil
