79th Annual General Meeting
The 79th Annual General Meeting of Middle Harbour Yacht Club was held on Thursday 19th July.
The new Board of Directors and Flag Officers were announced at the meeting. The results are as follows:

Yacht Sales Australia Wednesday Series
It was a difficult start to race 7 of the Yacht Sales Australia Wednesday Non-Spinnaker Series with
lacklustre breeze for the first ¾ of the fleet. The wind picked up just enough for the last few boats to get a
good start, heading off down the harbour only to see the breeze drop off again soon into the race.
The race committee took the welcome initiative to head down to Rose Bay to
shorten the course and finish the race there.
Shaun Lane’s Lazy Dog had a solid win in division 1 followed by Gordon Ketelbey on Zen
with Steve Proud on Swish coming in 3rd place. David Lee’s patience was rewarded in division 2 taking out 1st place
on Farr N Away with Jack Stening on Stormaway coming 2nd and Jim Vaughan on Another Dilemma 3rd.

Friday Night - $12 Steak Night
For the month of July, Friday night is officially steak night. Serving in the Harbourview Bistro
from 5pm with chips or mash and vege or salad.

MHYC Membership Renewals
Membership renewals have been sent out via email.
Please also note that membership prices have been increased slightly this year and this will be
reflected on your renewal statements.
Don't forget if you renew before 31st July 2018 you will go in the draw to win 3 nights
accomodation for 2 people on Hamilton Island!
All Annual and Monthly DDS members will have their renewal invoices sent next week and will automatically
go in the draw to win the Hamilton Island Getaway!

Mosman Parking Permits
The 50% discount for Mosman Parking Permits have now closed. If you registered for one of these permits,
they have arrived at the club and will need to be signed for on collection.
If you missed out on registering we are gathering a waitlist of members who would like to apply.
There will need to be 30 applicants in order for you to recieve a 30% discount on the full price of the permit.

Brush up on your skills over the winter period
The MHYC Winter Education program started with a successful volunteers evening
and full subscription to the Surf Live Saving First Aid Course First Aid Course.
The next couple of events are the Race Management, Flags and Signal Presentation run
by David Staley on Wednesday 1st August at 6.30pm. Followed by the VHF Radio Operators Course
run by Fishing Fish on 8th and 15th August.

Get Checked Day - Sunday 26 August 2018
MHYC holds annual Get Checked Days for Equipment Audits, which allows Club Members the perfect
opportunity to have their boats audited prior to the new sailing season commencing, free of charge.

This year’s audit dates are June 16th and 26th August.
Bookings for an equipment audit are to be arranged directly through the MHYC Sailing Office
by emailing sailing@mhyc.com.au or calling 896931903.
CMS Consulting will be here on the day to check fire extinguishers or purchase a new one at very reasonable rates.
Please note there has been an amendment to the MHYC Special Regulations Equipment Requirements
to include a handheld or installed VHF radio.
