The Senior's Lunch held last Sunday 16th July, was a huge success with 93 people in attendance. Guest speaker & MHYC Member, Peter Sorensen entertained all the guests with many funny stories and had everyone engaged. Thank you Peter for some enlightening moments from your sailing history.

Did you miss out on a Mosman Council Foreshore parking permit for 2017/18???? We have a waitlist for a 25% discount off the full price but need 5 more people to be able to receive this discount. If you are wanting to purchase a Council permit for the Spit Foreshore, please contact the Club. We need 30 members at least to take up this offer to receive the 25% discount.
This being my last newsletter at MHYC, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support, kindness, many laughs and friendship over the past 9 1/2 years. I have truly loved my time at MHYC, working with a fantastic team, meeting many new friends and being a part of a great Club, and now look forward to the next chapter at RPAYC. Hopefully I will see many of you up at Pittwater so please drop in and say hello! My last day at MHYC is this Saturday 22nd July, so please make sure you come and say goodbye or join us for a drink at 4pm after Saturday racing!

MHYC Winter Series - Race 12 (Final) /Short Race 7- Saturday 22nd July, 2017
Race 12 and Race 7 of the Short Series will be held this Saturday 22nd July, 2017. This is the final race of the Winter Series for 2017. Grab an egg and bacon roll from the Sandbar cafe prior to racing and the Harbourview Bistro will be serving Post Race weekly Specials for Members and Guests to enjoy prior to the presentation.

Winter Series Drawing to a Close
July 15, was another spectacular sunny day, but for many the breezes remained too light. The penultimate race in the Winter Series started in a gentle westerly, but the wind turned south then east and lightened as the afternoon wore on. In the end, a shortened course was completed by all but one boat.

Leading Edge series - begins Saturday 5th August, 2017
The Middle Harbour Leading Edge Series is a short 4 week program of Club house pursuit races which are run in the lead up to the new sailing season. Competition commences at 1230hrs, count up pursuit racing. Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Series and casual entries are welcome. Enter today!

Crew Required for MHYC yacht, Nine Dragons
Nine Dragons DK46 race yacht is now building crew for the Spring and Summer season. We are happy to train new crew ,and to welcome back our loyal core crew, so please respond and confirm your availability. There will be lots of racing inshore and offshore this season, plus the delivery to Melbourne and back, with details to be posted soon . MHYC at the Farr 40 World Championship
Congratulations to Gordon Ketelbey and his crew on Zen, coming 5th overall in the recent Farr 40 World Championship in Porto Cervo, Italy. Farr 40 Australian Class Administrator, Jennie Hughes wrote "Team Zen beat two of the professional stalwarts in the class and were also just one of four boats to win a race. Well done guys!"

Youth Sailors Excel at QLD Youth Week
It is great to see the enthusiasm of the young 29er sailors around the Club on a regular basis. MHYC is stamping its presence on the national 29er fleet with some great results at QLD Youth Week. 12 sailors headed North for the regatta and 2 crews finished on the podium.

MHYC Yacht Register - Get your boat on the MHYC Register
We plan to publish the register of MHYC members’ yachts once again with the forthcoming Sailing Handbook, so to enable us to ensure that it is as up to date and accurate as possible please let us know if you have recently acquired a new boat, disposed of one, or think that you may not be on the register and should be, or indeed if you have long disposed of a boat which still appears on the register. Please email sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au with boat name, sail number, owners names.

The Harbourview Bar & Bistro is open on Saturdays and Sundays for breakfast from 9am - click here for the Breakfast menu.
The Harbourview Bar & Bistro's Lunch & Dinner menu is available online - click here for the current menu. Harbourview Bar & Bistro is open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and Thursday to Saturday for dinner, with daily specials. For all bookings, please call the MHYC office on 9969 1244.
Please note: the Bistro will be closed tomorrow night, Thursday 20th July, 2017, due to the Annual General Meeting.
Kid's Disco & Karaoke - this Friday 21st July, 2017, 6pm to 8pm

One Sails Trim Seminar - Wednesday 2nd August, 2017, 6.30pm
Join Paul Eldrid from One Sails when he presents a Winter sail trim seminar at MHYC on Wednesday 2nd August, 2017, at 6.30pm. The talk will focus on sail trim but include the Trim cycle and Modes so it would be relevant to racing and cruising members. All welcome. Please advise the Club if you are attending to arrange adequate seating. Snacks from the Bistro will be available to purchase.
