Today we farewell Helen Jackson, the Club's Finance Manager for the past 13 years. We thank her for all her tireless enthusiasm, professionalism and passion for the Club and wish her all the best with her future endeavours. We will be having drinks in the Main Bar this afternoon from 4pm - please join us to say good-bye.
Bookings for the MHYC Vivid Cruise are filling up fast for Monday 5th June, 2017, so if you are wanting to see the Vivid Festival this year from the water, book in today. Bookings for all events this month can be made online here.

MHYC Winter Series - Race 5 Saturday 27th May, 2017
MHYC's Winter Series is held most Saturdays during Winter, including a 'short' series and sprint races. No racing is held over the June Long Weekend.
Race 5 will be held this Saturday 27th May, 2017. First Warning Signal at 1155hrs, with a Post Race Presentation. Morning Sandbar BBQ will greet skippers and crew prior to racing and the Harbourview Bistro will be serving Post Race weekly Specials for Members and Guests to enjoy.

Winter Series Update
The MHYC Winter Series continued on last Saturday 20th May, 2017, with the first session of sprint races scheduled. Race Officer Phil Yeomans and the team on Hugh George – Phil Clinton, Rob Ogilvie and Giff Clinton – had to make a change of course even before the first race was underway thanks to the breeze moving into the west. After a short delay, race one was underway but with the wind getting lighter and lighter, a shortened course was signalled. John Crawford’s J24 Innamincka took the honours on corrected time from Powderhulk and No Friends.

Sail a MELGES 20s during the Winter season!
The Melges 20s are available to sail during the winter season by club members. If you wish to do this, please contact Nicky Bethwaite to make arrangements, as there has been significant interest in doing this. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to sail one of these responsive assymetric keelboats, don't miss out, as they're great fun and very easy to handle.
If you're interested in purchasing a Melges 20, several are available. Contact Nicky for further information.
MHYC Keelboat Racing Forum - Thursday 8th June, 2017, at 7pm
A Keelboat Racing Forum will be held at 7pm on Thursday evening June 8 in the Quarterdeck Room to review the proposed calendar of MHYC Events for the 2017-2018 season and discuss opportunities for womens and youth sailing. Representatives from all MHYC racing and cruising keelboats are encouraged to attend.
Come in beforehand for a Dinner Special – Steak or Fish with Chips & Salad and a glass of Beer or Wine for $20. Call the club to book.
Get Checked Weekend - 17th & 18th June 2017
The 2017 Get Checked Weekend is coming up on June 17 & 18, 2017. All yachts racing in MHYC events in the coming season are required to have successfully completed a safety audit for the category of races they are entering. The new Australian Sailing Special Regulations come in to force as of July 1, 2017.
A team of accredited auditors has been assembled for the weekend and bookings are now being taken. Please note that safety audits conducted outside of the pre-arranged times on the Get Checked weekend may attract service fees. Fire extinguisher servicing will also be available on the weekend.

MHYC Yacht Register
We plan to publish the register of MHYC members’ yachts once again with the forthcoming annual report, so to enable us to ensure that it is as up to date and accurate as possible please let us know if you have recently acquired a new boat, disposed of one, or think that you may not be on the register and should be, or indeed if you have long disposed of a boat which still appears on the register. Please email sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au with boat name, sail number, owners names.
Dinghy Sailing Instructor Course at MHYC - 10th & 11th June, 2017
Learn how to deliver the first three courses of the Dinghy Program including Start Sailing 1, Start Sailing 2 and Better Sailing. Participants will learn and practise effective techniques for theory and practical instructing with continuous feedback and support. Join us at the Sandbar on Sunday 28th May from 1-4pm for an afternoon of live music with Greg Lines. Originally from Adelaide, Greg's wealth of experience covers many styles, from rock'n'roll and classic hits of the 60's to 00's, to country and jazz.
NRL State of Origin - Pizza & beer special for $15 - Game 1 - Wednesday 31st May 2017
Watch NSW and QLD battle it out in game 1 of the NRL State of Origin games live in the big screen in the Harbouview Room and enjoy a State of Origin special of Pizze and a beer for $15. The bistro will be open from 6pm, with the game kick off at 8pm. Game 1 - Wednesday 31st May 2017, Game 2 - Wednesday 21st June, 2017 & Game 3 - Wednesday 12th July, 2017.
2017 MHYC Vivid Cruise - Monday 5th June, 2017
After the success of last year's MHYC Vivid Cruise, it's on again! A great way to see the Vivid Festival, from the water while cruising around the Harbour. Pick up from Mosman Wharf at 5.45pm, with the cruise departing at 6pm and returning at 9pm, on Monday 5th June, 2017. $80 per person - includes arrival drink, buffet dinner, tea/coffee. There will be a cash bar for drinks onboard the cruise.

Literary Lunch with Tracey Spicer - Thursday 8th June, 2017
Join us on Thursday 8th June, 2017, from 12 noon, for a Literary Lunch with guest speaker, well known Australian journalist, Tracey Spicer, talking about her recent memoir, The Good Girl Stripped Bare. Tracey's frank and funny book follows her trajectory: from young 'bogan', to beloved television anchor, to being sacked after having a baby.

Commodore's Black Tie Dinner - Friday 16th June, 2017
Join us at the Commodore's Black Tie Dinner on Friday 16th June, 2017, from 6.30pm and help support the Frank Likely Trust. A fun filled evening includes 3 course dinner, entertainment, live & silent auction, lucky door prizes, and more. All monies raised will go to the Frank Likely Trust towards the development of youth sailing through the purchase of a new coach boat, revitalizing the Sailing Academy and creating a “School Stars” development program to encourage and enable more youth participation in local, state and national championships and regattas. Heavy Weather Sailing Night at the CYCA
The CYCA will be hosting a Heavy Weather Sailing night on June 6, 2017, at 6.30pm with 3 presenters - Wendy Tuck, Ed Psaltis & Sean Langman. Hear the advice these highly experienced sailors impart when relating their experiences together with how they prepare, set up and sail a yacht in Heavy Weather. The evening is free and open to all to attend. It will be an evening no one who goes to sea in a yacht should miss.
