Welcome to the first e-news for 2011. The first month in 2011 sees MHYC bursting at the seams with a range of activities.
REGATTAS AT MHYC
MHYC is hosting both the Int. J24 the 420s Australian Championship and the Melges 24 State Titles from 10th – 17th January 2011. Members are advised the Club will be trading in full for this period including the Sandbar Café and Seabreeze. The Marina and moorings are fully occupied to cater for visiting boats. No vessel can be left on the marina without approval from Alister Copley, Head of Marine Operations.
Parking facilities at the Club and surround carparks will be in high demand, so we suggest that you arrive early to secure a park.

Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta 2011
Entries are now open for the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta 4-6 March 2011. This is MHYC biggest event for the year and we look forward to seeing all Yachts out on the race course. Entry is free to Members entered in a MHYC Season Pointscore Series. To enter click here
Race Management
Race Management Teams required for the Int. 420 Class and J24 Class Championships
MHYC is hosting 2 events from the 10th – 17th January that require Members assistance on and off the water.
Tasks include:
Scribes, mark laying, boat drivers, protest coordination, results, post race BBQ, administration

I hope that you will agree that the quality and range of food coming from our chef Gary and the bistro kitchen is much better than before, and the feedback we are getting from our function clients is also uniformly good.

Car Parking
New MHYC car stickers are available from the office. You will be required to give your car registration number to receive a 2010/2011 car sticker. Only vehicles with the current sticker will be given priority parking in the MHYC allocated car spaces, on a first in first served basis.
Foreshore stickers can be purchased from Mosman Council directly, allowing members to utilize the Spit Car Park - http://www.mosman.nsw.gov.au/residents/parking
MHYC Opti Squad Nationals at RPAYC next week
The MHYC Opti Squad members have been training hard over this week with Club Coach Sam Webster in preparation for the upcoming Optimist Nationals at RPAYC next week.
With over 160 competitors, our squad has its work cut out for them to mix it up with the best that Australia has in this highly competitive class. Our Opti Squad team members consisting of Tom Milburn, Ed Smyth, Hannah Ranger, Xavier Phillips, Charlotte Griffith, James Griffin and Max Paul have had over 200 hours of coaching and have attended several interstate regattas over the past 4 months in the lead up to the national title. Good luck to the team.
