MHYC E News 19th October, 2016
Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter
Dear Members – it is with a mixture of disappointment and optimism, that we announce the resignation of our Manager Sailing & Youth Sailing, Carl Webster. It is disappointing from the perspective, that we have only had Carl on our team for such a short time with so much accomplished, but exciting and somewhat pleasing that his next role is as Club Services Officer for Australian Sailing!
Carl has dedicated majority of his short time at our Club to stream lining procedures, improving safety and introducing more efficient & effective race management operations in both Sailing and Youth Sailing. In his new role, we will be actively working with Carl to ensure our Youth Sail training and development is maintained at the highest performance levels and achieving great results.
Carl's last day will be on Saturday 29th October, 2016. We wish Carl all the very best in his new role with Australian Sailing and look forward to continuing working closely with him in the future!
MHYC has a busy Saturday of racing scheduled for this weekend with our Club Open, Inshore and Short series racing along with the first regatta of the Farr 40 2016/17 Australian Open Series. We are looking for a volunteer to help us out with the BBQ in the morning of both Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October from approx 8am - 9.30am to prepare and cook 30-40 egg and bacon rolls! If you can help out, please call the office on 9969 1244 or email info@mhyc.com.au
Term 4 youth sailing began on Sunday with over 50 kids registered from tackers through to Learn to Sail teenagers and Squads - this is a great result and we hope all the kids enjoy their time out on the water. The Redlands School youth sailors were treated to a visit from Olympian Tom Burton during the week who stopped by to say 'hi' and have a chat to the very enthusiastic 8-10 year olds!
Note to Skippers - are any of your crew not members yet? Now is the time to join them up during the month of October as we will be waiving the joining fee as well as adding $25 credit to the new member's membership card and $25 credit to the Proposer's membership card - see reception for membership forms or download from the MHYC website.
