With daylight savings underway, so too is the start of our Thursday Twilight Series! Race 1 is tomorrow night, Thursday 6th October, 2016. We have some great food options for post racing so we hope you will all support the Club and enjoy the new offerings with a new menu upstairs and barbeque food from The BBQ Cooking School, downstairs. Table bookings for the Bistro can be made on 9969 1244.
New membership cards for the 2016/17 season are available for collection from the MHYC office. Please advise reception if you would prefer to have your card posted to you. For those who are yet to renew your membership, please call the office today on 9969 1244!

Important Information for Members:
Many members will already be aware of the change which has taken place with the operation of the Harbourview Bistro and Function spaces now being managed directly by the Club, following termination of the previous Agreement.
We want to make it clear that this in no way affects the trading and operation of Cala Luna Restaurant who will continue to provide restaurant services as normal and Members will still be able to take advantage of this great location and the MHYC member discount.

Race 6 of Series 1 for the 2016-17 season, will be held today Wednesday 5th October, 2016. Please be aware that the handicaps are count up starting from 1330 hours.

Thursday Twilight Series Begins 6th October, 2016
The Thursday Twilight series is upon us and begins with the first race tomorrow night, 6th October, 2016, with a count up handicap start from 6pm - have you entered your boat and had your safety regulations check - contact Roger at roger@mhyc.com.au. Post racing presentation and Bistro open for a meal or alternatively, enjoy barbeque food from The BBQ Cooking School, downstairs on the beach - get the crew together, support the Club and celebrate after the race! To book a table at the Bistro, call 9969 1244 and book in your Boat name!

Twilight Membership Special - Join as a Sailing Member with MHYC for the Twilights!
As a special membership deal for October, MHYC is waiving the joining fee of $75 and offering a $25 credit on your membership card when you join in the month of October as a Sailing member for the Twilight series (valid for new members only). Sailing membership fee is $326 (expires 31st Aug 2017) - that's just $14 per race and you get to shout the whole crew a drink or keep it for yourself!

nots by heckmann - Meet Olympians, Jena Mai Hansen & Ryan Seaton this Thursday
Jena Mai Hansen, Danish Olympic Sailing Team & Bronze 49er FX medallist from the Rio Olympics and Ryan Seaton, Irish Olympic Sailing Team 2012 & 2016, will be joining us at the Club tomorrow night for our first Twilight race and will make a short presentation on their sailing experiences and their role as Amdassadors for nots by heckmann jewellery. nots by heckmann is a raw unisex bracelet designed and produced in Denmark - with black, white, blue or pink diamonds representing intimacy, care, gratitude and strength.
nots by Heckmann have offered all MHYC members a 10% discount on any purchase – and 5% of all sales will be given to the Club as a further incentive. All members present on Thursday night will be given a small envelope inside which will be voucher – but one will include the winning ticket for the bracelet with black diamonds!
Melges 20 - Available this Saturday 8th October, 2016
The Melges 20s are available again this Saturday for MHYC sailing members to go for a sail. We’ll take part in the Inshore Racing which starts at 1pm. If you’re keen, you’ll need to be at the dock by 11.30am and we’ll be back by 4 or 4.30pm. Please advise Nicky Bethwaite on nickyb@mhyc.com.au by Thursday midday if you’d like to participate.
SSORC - Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship - 26th & 27th November, 2016 - Enter Today!
Entry is open and the Notice of Race is online for the 39th Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship (SSORC), to be hosted by Middle Harbour Yacht Club on the weekend of November 26 and 27, 2016. The two-day series traditionally opens the summer offshore racing season and is one of the last times owners and crews can test their mettle against rivals and newcomers. It is also the ultimate opportunity to practice for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race each year.

Youth Sailing - Term 4 Online Bookings Open
The holiday camps have been in full swing over the last 2 weeks with over 50 kids enjoying the sun and fun of learning to sail at MHYC!
Online bookings for Term 4 are now open online. Term 4 begins Sunday 23rd October! Book the kids in for the Summer - a great time to have fun and learn to sail on the waters of Middle Harbour!

The Sandbar Cafe is open 7 days a week from 8am. Come down to the Club & enjoy our coffee and freshly made gourmet rolls - try our new Chicken Schnitzel roll! Ladies Lunch - Guest Speaker: Julian Leatherdale
Thursday 20th October, 2016, at 12 noon
The final Ladies Luncheon for 2016 will be held on Thursay 20th October, 2016, at 12 noon. MHYC's guest speaker is author, Julian Leatherdale, who was a researcher/photo editor for the Time-Life Australians At War series and later co-writer/researcher on ABC-Film Australia TV history documentaries. His novel Palace of Tears is a captivating novel of love, history, betrayals and family secrets.
The Prize of a 3 night luxury cruise on board the Reef Endeavour departing Denarau Island cruising towards the Mamanuca Islands of Castaway & Mana and then on to the South Yasawa group, plus an overnight stay at the 4 star Radisson Blu Resort on Denarau Island, will be drawn at the lunch.
