Melges 20 fleet at MHYC
Saturday saw the first of a five event Sprint Series with 5 Melges 20s strutting their stuff on the windward/leeward courses conducted by MHYC. The racing was fast and furious with the eventual winner – Matt Crawford from RPAYC – showing a clean pair of heels in two of the three races. In a fluctuating 10-15 kt nor’easter, the M20s put on a fine display of apparent wind sailing, and the crews came ashore with very broad smiles.

2nd – Cafe Latte (Rod Jones, Sean O’Rourke, Lucinda Whitty)
3rd – Dark Star (John Bacon, Alby Pratt, Chris Dawson)

If you are interested in going for a sail in one of these boats, with an Owners Representative on board, please contact Nicky Bethwaite at nickyb@mhyc.com.au by Friday 23rd Sept at the latest.

“Elena Nova” the JV 42 chartered by MHYC member, Andrew Pearson, took honours in all but one race in the series to take 1st overall in the IRC division at Magnetic Island Race Week. The result was testament to the hard work on tuning the boat over the last years.
Racing was held in both light and fresh warm winds and clear blue skies. Combined with warm waters it was another fantastic event to finish off the winter calendar.
