Race 10 of Series 4 for the 2015-16 season, will be held today Wednesday 3rd August, 2016. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up starting from 1300 hours.

The Leading Edge Series begins this Saturday 6th August, 2016, with Race 1 of 4 races for the Series. Clubhouse count up start from 12.30pm noon.

Notice of Race and Online Entry for the 2016/17 Season Now Open
The Notice of Race and online entry for all of the 2016/2017 sailing season is now available on the MHYC website. Take the opportunity to enter now and prepare for the upcoming season! The new handbook should be available at the mandatory Skippers Briefing next Thursday 11th August at 1900 hours. If you aren’t available to make this evening please contact Carl in the sailing office at sailing.manager@mhyc.com.au
Annual Skippers Briefing - Thursday 11th August, 2016
The Annual Skippers Briefing will be held on Thursday 11th August, 2016 at 7pm. This is a mandatory meeting for all skippers (or designated crew) to be updated about the upcoming racing schedule for the 2016/17 season and other RMS requirements for shipping & harbour operations.
There will be a range of Helly Hansen's new season sailing gear and clothing to view as well as a wine tasting with Robert Oatley Vineyards.
Youth Sailing - Online Bookings Open - Term 3 has begun!!
Term 3 bookings are open online for Tackers and Learn to Sail - click here for more information. Term 3 has begun and will continue each Sunday through to 18th September, 2016. Green/silver and Open Opti fleet, Cadets and 420 Squad are now being held every weekend, so book in now to avoid disappointment!
Melges 20 Come & Try Sailing Day
Another successful Come & Try day on the Melges 20s took place last Sunday. 7 sailors – 3 women, 4 men – enjoyed sailing the boats in a fairly light breeze, swapping positions and learning to set, gybe and drop the asymmetrical spinnakers. There will be one more of these days before the season starts in September, so if you are interested in trying them out (no cost involved) please contact Nicky Bethwaite in the sailing office.
Sandbar Cafe - open 7 days a week - Hot soup now available
The Sandbar Cafe is open 7 days a week from 8am. Come down to the Club & enjoy our Winter treats - samosas, frittatas, pies, hot dogs! Also delicious soft centred muffins - try them warmed up! Hot soup is available daily perfect for these chilly days - pumpkin & coconut, creamy tomato & basil, Nepalese lentil, cauliflower & parmesan!
Harbourview Bar & Bistro - Winter Menu Available
The Harbourview Bar & Bistro has a Winter menu - come down to the Club and try it out!
Harbourview Bar & Bistro is open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and Friday and Saturday for dinner. Thursday nights will reopen with the start of the 2016/17 season.

Spit to the Zoo 2016 - Saturday 13th August, 2016 - Register today!
It's on again - the 2016 Sydney City Renault Harbour Series - Spit to the Zoo 2016. Long course 16kms, short course 8kms. Open to ocean racing skis, SLSC Spec skis, outrigger canoes, SUP's, Sea kayaks and plastics. Race starts at 9am with registration from 7.30am. $35 for PNSW members and $45 for non members. The Long Lunch - hosted by the Cruising Division - Sunday 21st August, 2016, 12 noon
The 40th Anniversary of the Cruising Division will be celebrated at the upcoming Long Lunch, hosted by the Cruising Division on Sunday 21st August, 2016, at 12 noon. $55 MHYC Members, $60 non members - includes 3 course lunch in the Quarterdeck Room.

Cruising Division - Next Meeting Rescheduled to Monday 22nd August, 2016
Please note that the next Cruising Division meeting will now be held on Monday 22nd August, 2016, at 7.30pm. BYO BBQ at 6.30pm. This is due to a planned power outage at the Club on the regular date.

Ladies Lunch - Guest Speakers: Liz Chard & Tim Elliott - Thursday 1st September, 2016
The third of 4 Ladies Lunches for 2016 will be held on Thursday 1st September, 2016, at 12 noon. We will have two guest speakers - Liz Chard & Tim Elliot.
Liz has written a beautiful book of easy and delicious recipes for all seasons - "Entertaining on the Water" and will be able to impart some great ideas that will make entertaining on the water an enjoyable affair.
Tim Elliott is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in the SMH, Australian Financial Review and London's Financial Times and Sunday Times. His book, "Farewell to the Father" tells his memoir of growing up with a parent afflicted by mental illness - a story that will split your heart open.
$55 MHYC Members, $60 Non Members (includes 2 course lunch, wine, tea/coffee).

Landrover Sydney to Gold Coast Yacht Race Update
All MHYC boats have safely finished after a long race to the Gold Coast in light winds, with overall standings as follows for the MHYC boats:

Save the Date - MHYC Opening of the Season - Saturday 3rd September, 2016
The beginning of the 2016/17 season is around the corner and will be kicked off with Opening Day and Sail Past on Saturday 3rd September, 2016, from 10am. The theme for the day is "Family Entertainment". So dress up your boats and crew to your favourite family movie or TV show - is it "Finding Nemo" or "The Adams Family"???? There is a huge array of choice and prizes to be won!
The annual Sail Past and salute to the Flag Officers will commence approximately 11am and lead into the first Feature Event of the Season, the Commodore's Front Up Cup - click here to enter.
Father's Day at MHYC - Sunday 4th September, 2016
The Harbourview Bar & Bistro will be open for lunch on Father's Day, Sunday 4th September, 2016. The normal lunch menu will be available. As this is a popular day, book early as seating will be limited. Call the office on 02 9969 1244.
