 MC 38 Winter Regatta & Farr 40's Join SCM Winter Series Fleet Last Weekend
Last Saturday saw our Winter Series fleet joined by 5 MC 38's for their Winter Regatta along with 4 Farr 40's in what was a great day of racing.

YA Withdraws Amendment #5 relating to servicing of fire extinguishers
Yachting Australia has withdrawn the recent Amendment #5 relating to servicing of fire extinguishers. Further guidance will be issued to clubs and auditors in due course.
 MHYC Sailing Handbook - Advertising Space Now Available for 2015/16 Season Edition
There is a limited opportunity to advertise your product or sevice in the MHYC Sailing Handbook, the 2015/16 Season edition of which will be published in August 2015. The artwork deadline is 10 July 2015.
MHYC members cover a wide spectrum of professions and interests not only in boating but also in the legal, financial, and property areas among many others.

Mosman Council Spit Foreshore Parking Permits 2015/16 - Registration Closes Monday 29th June, 2015
Mosman Council, once again, will be offering a 50% discount to MHYC Members when purchasing an annual 7 day Spit Foreshore Parking Permit (valid for the East and West car parks) for 2015/16. The 50% discount of $170 will only be applicable once 100+ Members have taken up the offer and received by Council as one transaction. Permits can now be purchased online through the MHYC website. Bookings will close on Monday 29th June, 2015, to allow time to be processed and permits issued. Late applications will not receive the 50% discount.

Annual General Meeting - Call for Nominations - Closes today at 5pm
MHYC's Annual General Meeting will be held at the Clubhouse on Thursday 16th July, 2015, from 7pm. Call for Nominations for Directors and Flag Officers are now open and in accordance with the Constitution of Middle Harbour Yacht Club will close at 5pm on Wednesday 24th June 2015. Click here for Call for Nominations notice. Nomination forms are available from reception at the Club. At this stage, the role of Club Captain has received more than 2 nominations so will go to a vote. Ballot papers will be sent to voting members shortly.

 Membership Renewals for 2015/16 Season
Renewal Notices for the membership season of 2015/16 have been posted to all current Members this week. Please note that if you wish to pay online through our Member's Logon portal, log on using your membership number and first 4 digits of your birthday (eg.10 June is 1006), go to "My Account", then click on "Make a Payment". Choose "Membership account" and add amount noted on your renewal notice and continue to payment.

Mobile App for MHYC
MHYC Member, Harry Brigden, has been working on a mobile app for Middle Harbour Yacht Club. The app can be viewed by downloading through Google Play (search using "MHYC") and it is the hope to show a calendar of racing, results, courses, upcoming events, and newsletters. It is still in the designing process so please provide feedback to Harry at harryb@propertyis.com.au, with any suggestions.

 Frank Likely Trust Campaign for MHYC Youth Sailing Future
Youth sailing is the key to the future success for Middle Harbour Yacht Club. Weekends are spent with a full beach of young sailors learning to sail however, the current Optimist Fleet is ageing and requires replacing. Youth Sailing, in conjunction with the Frank Likely Trust is driving a campaign to replace the Club’s current Opti Fleet with 30 new boats by summer to ensure that Middle Harbour Yacht Club creates future champion sailors and life long members.

 Spit to Zoo Challenge - Saturday 8th August, 2015
Race 4 of the 2015 Sydney City Renault Harbour Series will be held on Saturday 8th August, 2015, from Middle Harbour Yacht Club. For Ocean Racing Skis, SLSC Spec skis, Outrigger Canoes, SUP’s, Sea Kayaks and Plastics – (Short Course Only). Long course 16 kms, Short Course 8kms. Registration from 7.30am with a race start at 9.00am. Sausage sizzle, great prizes from Sponsors at the Presentation. $35.00 for PNSW members, $45 for non members.

Notice to all Members and Guests - the Sandbar Cafe is open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm. Relax by the beach with a coffee and gourmet roll! New items for the cooler months - toasties, soup, quiches, pies, sausage rolls etc.
Don't forget that our Harbourview Bar & Bistro is open Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights with heaters now on the balcony to keep you warm!
Changes to Smoking Laws
Effective as from 6th July 2015, new regulations come into effect in all licensed venues in NSW.
Smoking is already banned within 4 metres of a pedestrian entrance to or exit from a public building but as from 6th July, this rule also applies to within 4 metres of a seated dining area, restaurant or café.
Fortunately, our current designated smoking area at the rear of the Sandbar Cafe complies with the new regulation and is beyond the 4 metre distance required.
This is a reminder though that the Club’s policy is NO SMOKING PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON CLUB PREMISES & BEACH AREA.
