Great Success for MHYC Yachts in the Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Race
After a 226 nautical mile match race between the two MHYC DK46’s the results were very close.
Nine Dragons (Bob Cox) managed to beat Exile ( Rob Reynolds) home by 32 minutes and on IRC the result was reversed with Exile winning IRC by 12 minutes from Nine Dragons.
Both crews commented that it was one of the toughest races that had done with the breeze on the nose the entire race. But add to the wind that the two yachts were within sight of each other for most of the race.
Then the MHYC team of Exile, Nine Dragons, Kaliber and Mortgage Choice Rumba won the teams trophy for MHYC. Unfortunately Mortgage Choice Rumba was forced to retire with an injured crew member needing medical assistance.
The crew member has recovered.
Exile was also the winner of the ORCi Division with third place going to Kerisma (Grant Dawson, Brent Lawson)
In the PHS Division Kaliber (Rob Hoile) came 5th in their first offshore race.
In the Coffs Harbour Regatta, a series of races held after and including the Coffs Harbour Race, Exile came second on a count back to RPAYC yacht Old School. Kerisma was 7th in the series.
A good result for all.
