Teams Racing

While “real” racing has been curtailed by Covid-19, the club will once again be conducting a virtual eSailing Winter Series 2021.  Free and open to all MHYC members, the club will run two short series on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Spring 2021 eSailing Series includes:

Wednesday 8, 15 & 22 September at 7.30pm – Racing

Five short races each day, using the Barcolana 50, Far East 28R, and J/70 classes respectively on each race day.  Results will be calculated on PHS and One-Design.

Thursday 9, 16 & 23 September at 2.00pm – Racing

Five short races each day, using the Barcolana 50, Far East 28R, and Offshore Racer classes respectively on each race day.  Results will be calculated on PHS and One-Design.

Thursday 9 September at 7.30pm – Teams Racing

A round robin series of short races for teams of 3 sailors in the Star Keelboat.  Entrants will be allocated to a team and be required to purchase the team colour for their boat. 

Wednesday races (using the J70 Day Racer) with spinnaker at 7.30pm and Thursday races (using the Offshore Keelboat Class) with spinnaker at 2pm. For each race session, there are five races scheduled on windward-leeward courses with an offset mark at the top and a leeward gate. There will be a minimum requirement of 6 participants and a maximum of 20 in each race including the race administrator.

The Spring eSailing Series commences on Wednesday 8 September 2021.

If you would like to participate:

  1. Go to https://www.virtualregatta.com/en/inshore-game/
  2. Registration is free.  You will need to agree to the terms and provide your email address and register a pseudonym (or boat name) that you will race under
  3. Complete the basic training (Sailing School) which familiarises you with the boat controls at the same time as going over the essential rules
  4. Do some single boat training (colourful boat icon at bottom left of screen) in the type/s of boat you plan on racing in the races organised by the club
  5. Enter some of the free (usually green) races to get some fleet racing practice

  • Skipper Name
  • Pseudo
  • Email Address (for notices about racing)
  • Mobile Number (for text alerts on race day)
  • Which of the following eSailing competition/s you would like to enter 
    •         Wednesdays at 7pm (J70 Day Racer with Spinnaker)
    •         Thursdays at 6pm (Offshore Keelboat with Spinnaker)

To view the MHYC Winter eSailing Series, simply go to https://www.virtualregatta.com/en/inshore-game/, wait for the main screen to load, click on Custom Race, click on the video tab (camera icon), then select the MHYC eSailing race from the list of races available to view.
