A number of changes have been introduced for the Winter program of sailing at MHYC this year including the addition of a Winter Pursuit Series of 5 races through May, June and July, and trialling of the SailSys entry and results system.
Four days of Winter Sprints remain scheduled in May, June and July and the Leading Edge Pursuit Series is sailed on the first four Saturdays in August.
The Winter Pursuit Series has been added as a result of feedback at the Sailing Forum held earlier this month, with a number of members expressing their preference for more races during winter which start and finish at the club. To view the Notice to Competitors – click here

While MHYC has used the Top Yacht entry and results system for many years, the club will be using the three Saturday series in winter for evaluation of SailSys. This system includes online entry, handicapping and results processing much the same as Top Yacht, but offers a number of possible improvements around flexibility of use for administrators and race management teams (on-water, ashore and off-site), and generation of handicaps which have better alignment between series and with other clubs. The only way to effectively assess the benefits of a possible change to SailSys is to run one or more series using the new processes and we are endeavouring to complete this trial before commencing the 2019-2020 season. The Sailing Department would appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this trial period and would welcome any feedback about the user experience.
You should expect a number of changes:
- Your boat may already have a Boat Profile in SailSys, so use the search function to select your boat. If you do not have an existing profile you will need to set one up (you will be prompted to do this when you commence the online entry process).
- The online entry page, results menu and results pages will display differently to Top Yacht.
