Middle Harbour Yacht Club is an accredited Discover Sailing Centre (DSC) and provides a pathway for young sailors from learn to sail to advanced racing with highly qualified instructors.
MHYC has a proud tradition of developing young sailors, culminating in the success of Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page winning Gold in the 470 Mens at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. MHYC is also the home base for the Australian Sailing Team (AST), with all of the the recent Olympians training and based out of the club. This has helped the AST have their best ever results at an Olympics with local sailor Malcolm Page becoming the most successful 470 sailor in the world with a second GOLD medal at the London Olympics in 2012. More recently, the Australian Sailing Team brought home 1 gold medal (Tom Burton) and 3 silver medals (Lisa Darmanin/Jason Waterhouse, Iain Jensen/Nathan Outteridge & Will Ryan/Mat Belcher) in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 2016 Paralympic team brought home medals from every Paralympic class with 2 gold and 1 silver medal.
To continue this tradition, MHYC is dedicated to youth sailing through a range of programs and classes. These programs provide a fun environment to sail as well as strong pathways as our juniors develop as sailors.
