MHYC E News 16th March, 2016

Welcome to Middle Harbour Yacht Club's E-Newsletter.

The PIF Charity Regatta last Friday was a huge success with over 80 boats entered to help raise funds for homeless young people.  Many thanks to those Members who donated their boats for the day.
Vale Noel Ramsden - Noel's funeral will be held this Friday 18th March, 2016, at 11.30am at the Hoskins Uniting Church, 43 Bridge Street, Lithgow.  MHYC will be holding a memorial gathering at the Club to remember Noel, next Monday 21st March, 2016, from 4pm to 7pm for any Members and friends of Noel.
A new power board for the Club, as required by AusGrid, is being installed this weekend. Electrical works on the marina will commence at 9pm on Sunday 20th March, 2016, and there will be an on-site guard to monitor all club & tenant access areas, with a generator operating to maintain continual operation of fridges & freezers.  
A new marina gate is now operational for access to C & D Arms. Please contact Matt Pyne for information on use and new code.


Saturday Summer Pointscore - 19th March, 2016

Please note that all MHYC Divisions will be sailing at RSYS this Saturday 19th March 2016.

OPEN DIVISION will start with RSYS DIV 1 warning signal 1250
MHYC DIV 1 will start with RSYS DIV 2 warning signal 1255
MHYC DIV 3 and ADAMS 10s will start with RSYS DIV 3 warning signal 1305

RSYS SIs have been emailed to registered entrants, and hard copies are available from the Sailing Office. The Start lines are detailed in Si 13.2 on page 26 of the SIs, and competitors and crew should allow extra time for southern harbour starts. There will be Combined Club results, and our own series results will be calculated and published, and prizes presented back here at MHYC, as usual.

Race 3 of Series 3 for the 2015-16 season, being held today Wednesday 16th March, 2016. Please be reminded that the handicaps are count up starting from 1330 hours.

Thursday Twilight Series - Race 22 - 17th March, 2016 - St Patrick's Day

Race 22 will be held tomorrow Thursday 17th March, 2016, with a count up handicap Clubhouse start.  Enter today! Celebrate St Patrick's Day by wearing a touch of green!  Irish themed meals available from the Bistro as well as Guiness and Bailey's Irish Cream!

Cruising Division Meeting & BBQ - Monday 21st March, 2016

Online Bookings Open for Tackers & Learn To Sail April School Holiday Camps

Online bookings are now open for the April School Holiday Camps.  MHYC will be running Tackers and Learn to Sail camps from 9.15am - 3.30pm on Monday 11th April to Thursday 14th April and from Monday 18th April to Thursday 21st April, 2016.

NSW 420 & International Cadet State Titles - 19th - 20th March, 2016

The NOR and entry for the NSW 420 & International Cadet State Titles are now available on the MHYC Youth Sailing Regattas page. Entries close on19th March at 1200hrs.

Kid's Disco & Karaoke - Friday 18th March, 2016

The next Kid's Disco & Karaoke at MHYC, run by Bop Till You Drop, will be held this Friday 18th March, 2016, from 6pm - 8pm.  $10 per child, includes snack & drink.  To book for the disco and Bistro reservations, call the MHYC office on 9969 1244.

Saturday 26th March - Sandbar Cafe Open - 8am | Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for lunch 12pm - 3pm & dinner 6pm -9pm
Sunday 27th March - Sandbar Cafe Open - 8am | Harbourview Bar & Bistro Closed
Monday 28th March - Sandbar Cafe Open - 9am - 12noon
MHYC office will be closed each day, however the Tender Service will operate Sat, Sun & Mon 9am - 5pm.

Sandbar Cafe - open 7 days a week -  Irish Donuts available this Thursday!

The Sandbar Cafe is open 7 days a week from 8am. Irish Donuts will be available tomorrow for St Patrick's Day in the Sandbar Cafe.  French pastries also available now - berry, chocolate & salted caramel muffins, chocolate croissants, fruit scrolls!  Come down to the Club & try them!  Also delicious Smoothies - flavours of banana, mango, mixed berry and for the health conscientious, a dairy free "Green" -  the perfect choice for Summer!

The Harbourview Bar & Bistro has had some great reviews of its' menu.  Come down to the Club and try the delicious offerings for yourself.

Ladies Lunches 2016 - Thursday 21st April - Guest Speaker - Alexandra Joel

The first of MHYC's Ladies Lunches for 2016 will be held on Thursday 21st April, 2016, from 12 noon.  Our guest speaker will be Alexandra Joel, Alexandra Joel is the author of Best Dressed: 200 Years of Fashion in Australia and Parade: the Story of Fashion in Australia. Both books detail the development of fashion, style and national identity.  She will be talking about her new release novel, Rosetta.

Sydney Sailboat Expo - 9th - 10th April, 2016

The Sydney Sailboat Expo will be held on the 9-10 April 2016 10am – 4pm at the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) in Manly! The ICMS building holds a commanding position in Manly overlooking Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean. The Sydney Sailboat Expo is the place to go to find out how to get yourself or your kids involved in the sport of sailing! Magnetic Island Race Week - 1st - 6th September 2016

The 10th annual SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week will offer first-class racing on the crystal blue waters of Cleveland Bay from 1st September to 6th September 2016, following on from the Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks and is the finale of the Queensland Season of Sailing.
