Helly Hansen jumps aboard SSORC Series – entries close Friday

Leading water sports and technical apparel supplier, Helly Hansen, is pleased to join the Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC) as the major sponsor of the 35th Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship in 2012 which has again attracted some of the best yachts and sailors from around Australia, and with entries closing this Friday evening, prospective entrants need to act fast.

Group Training at MHYC 

Local fitness trainers Tani Ruckle and Michael Lynch will begin group training classes at MHYC starting next week. 20th November, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.15am.

Adopt A Plank - Forms Now Available

Plans are on the way to update the verandas outside the harbour View Room and Cala Luna. As you are aware this is well and truly overdue. We have not been able to do this previously as we simply have not had the funds. Now with the help of Cala Luna we can get started.

Thursday Twilights Report - Race 5

All agreed that last Thursday's Middle Harbour Yacht Club Thursday Twilight Race 5 was a great sail! Weather forecast did not look promising with predicted electrical storm, hail, rain, big winds etc. This lousy weather actually did occur but to the West of Sydney.

Beach BBQ & Harbourview Bar & Bistro Open for Twilights

The delicious menu offerings for the Twilight Series will again consist of either casual meals from the BBQ ranging in price from $7 to $12, from Beef & Red Kidney Bean Nachos, Thai Chicken Salad, Beef Burger or Vegetarian Salad, to a Twilight bistro menu in the Harbourview Bar & Bistro.  Bookings are essential for the Bistro. MHYC will be offering a special Twilight Membership for new members wishing to join the Club for the Twilight season.  The cost will be $274.00 (inc YA fee) and expires 31st August 2013.  Conditions apply. Get your crew ready for the season.

Sailing Clinic - Racing Tactics & Strategy

Wednesday 21st November, 2012, at 7.30pm

Quantum’s Carl Crafoord & Brent Fowler will present an evening seminar on Racing Tactics & Strategy, to help you kick off your summer season of sailing.
Carl has a wealth of experience including 26 Sydney to Hobarts (winning 4 as navigator), 9 Admirals Cups, 9 Kenwood Cups, as well as logging over 150,000 offshore miles. Brent has been a key member of many teams wining both Australian and Asian IRC Regattas. He turned heads when at 23 years old he helmed the first Australian Team at the Med Cup in the Soto 40 Series, with the average age onboard at 24.
